I'm looking for a new headset as the area around here is drying up and the current one(stock from my bike) is not sealed, I checked it over today and theres a ton of gunk and **** like that.

My budget is probably about 50-100 euros. I'm looking for a low stack one (1.1/8") The stack on my headset currently is about 2.5-3cm. I'm not sure what the make is.

Also, does anyone know how the headset system works on the Supreme DH? theres pinch bolts for the headangle adjuster(i guess) does this mean I do not need any tools to switch headsets? As you can just loosen everything off.

thanks

The new crank brothers headsets look superb, low stack, and are even lighter than chris king. Also a nice touch is the crown race that is integrated into the lower cup so things are a little easier...

I've always been happy with Cane Creek's products. I have the 110 on one bike and the DoubleX on another. I will however, be giving the new Crank Bros headsets a try on my next bike.

I can't buy the Cane Creek 110 on chainreaction unfortunately. I'm plannning to an order just before the lifts open so I get free shipping.

the crank brothers ones look tempting, not a bad price either

the solo is too high for me at 38mm. I think i might pick up the crank brothers when they become avalabile.

does anyone have any idea if they're going to have stock issues or are they usually pretty good?

I stopped using Kings also over 6inches esspecially on single crowns, they creaked till the point I thought my frame was stuffed!

Installed a Hope never had an issue since, it would be my choice without a doubt very nice headset, with some real world sealing, great for long travel single crowns beefy but light.

For low stack, not so on ya triples if thats what ya using, I haven't tried Sunlines, but thats what I'd be looking at if I wanted low stack and using on a boxxer or 888.

Kings seem to be alright on triples, theres not the same stresses applied, triples seem to distribute the loads differently, me I still wouldn't go there again on a big fork unless it was 1.5!

Sunline, should be able to get them OK from chain reaction:monkeydance:

Headset removal/installation on your Commencal is like any other 1 1/8" headtube. The pinch bolts are only to allow rotation of the headtube sleeve.
