My Boss is an incompetent ass and i wrote my letter of resignation today and am waiting for the perfect time to shove it up his arse errr i mean give it to him.

It is with great regret that I must write this letter of resignation from Treatment Center A. When I moved to TX in February, Treatment Center A was highly recommended by professionals throughout the state as a leader and innovator in the substance abuse field. I was highly committed to helping Treatment Center A continue its mission of prevention, treatment and education of substance abuse and addiction to the residents of Texas. I felt my efforts were greatly needed and appreciated when I was hired in March. I have since been told that my efforts are “inexcusable and unacceptable.” I pride myself in the ethical treatment of my clients and respect the policies of Treatment Center A but feel the two are not compatible. I feel the hostility and abuse of management to its staff is unacceptable. The level of competence from interns and counselors directly reflects the competence of management. This lack of competence has lead to a staff unsure of their individual knowledge and skills, a high counselor turnover rate and most concerning an unethical and harmful treatment of clients. I have an ethical duty to my clients, so my resignation will not be immediate and I will continue the mission of Treatment Center A to the best of my abilities until May 30th 2008. I still believe in Treatment Center A and its mission to treat substance abuse and would consider another position as a LCDC at a different component.

There are times to take your bat and ball and go home.....and there are time you stay on the field. I don't know your situation, but you have too much emotion in your letter tone to make me think this decision is based mostly on logic.

What did you do that was interpreted as “inexcusable and unacceptable.” ?? If your boss can justify his terms for that, you look weak. You need to put it in perspective that you look good if you choose loaded statements. Like, Mr. X told me feeding kittens tuna was unexcusable and unacceptable." In other words, spin it for your favor b/c HR will keep it forever. Just MO.

sometimes it's good to fight and see you win or outlive the tyrant. Other times it's toll on your personal life is too great and it's better to move on.

Before we answer, what are you moving on to?

Man, I wish that I was so rich that I never had to worry about working again.

That must be a great feeling.

Let me edit that note for you.

"I am tendering my resignation as of XX/XX/08 to pursue other opportunities. "

Perhaps you shouldn't brag that you "counsel with" our "crackhead moms"?? I can see how that does not go over well in your business:)

Keep in mind, your a-hole boss's superiors monitor employee turnover. If people starting quiting from under him, they want to know why.

Don't burn your bridge, though. I think leaving will send enough of a message.

Thanks for some of the good input and I think most of you are right. I did write this in haste and was pretty pissed about a written reprimand that expressed my "inexcusable and unacceptable" documentation in client files. Like I told my boss, I have a case load of 52 clients who have serious problems with the legal system, CPS, and gaining employment because of drug/alcohol addiction and sometimes I do bend the rules but I do it to help them. In a society that mostly ostracizes and deems them "sinners" or "just stupid" I feel it is my duty to do whatever necessary (within the law and my ethical obligations) to help the individual who wants to stop but cant. No matter what the obstacle . My boss flat out said that its not my problem or job to care but to bring in the money and minimize my efforts cause they were "wasting billing hours" and thats what really pissed me off. So loco i think you letter seems a little more fitting. And I really need not worry to much about employment cause I live in hell paso, TX were a licensed counselor is as scarce as a border patrol officer and is sought like a green card (not to be racist). So I will make some corrections, quit my job, win the lotto, and head to whistler to ride forever
