so we recently hired a new kid at the shop. he came in the other day to buy some powerbars. he was in the shop for maybe 2 minutes. he went back out to his truck and his bike was stolen right out of the bed. the kid was devastated. so i told him he could borrow my xc bike till he can afford a new one. so his mom gives me a call the next day and tells me to ep him a new bike. so he is now going from an old beat up GT avalanche 2.0 to a 2008 fuji tahoe comp 29er! i cant wait for it to come in so i can see his face when we surprise him with it.

im just glad at how this whole situation is turning out. cause hes an awesome kid and is the last person who deserves to have his bike stolen from him. so im glad that we can make lemonade out of lemons in this situation

I my world if you leave your bike in your truck and it gets stolen then you deserved to have your bike stolen.

He might be a great kid but his mom is not doing him a favor. He should learn that thieves prey on stupidity.

Yes, but wouldn't you say that having a bike stolen has taught the lesson? I would. You leave your sh1t in the open, it will get stolen. If this kid has half a brain, his new bike will be well taken care of.

Quality move by Mom. I approve.

lovebunny and me are at #53 in sorrento valley CA

I feel so bad for Alex though. He's probably one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Never has anything bad to say about anyone. And he catches on to stuff really fast for a new guy

I'm sure this kid is nice and he has learned his lesson.

I shall redact my statement about him deserving to have the bike stolen. No one deserves that.

All teens deserve the harshness of life though. Keeps them honest and frightened.

Come on guys, that's like being in a Restaurant Forum and all the KFC workers shoutin' out.

(If that was too rude, sorry, didn't intend it so)
Jerk.
:)

I used to work at SuperGo in Ventura, just for a while before I made the move to where I'm at.
I will say that it was one of the more fun places to work at that, I had a blast there.
That was before the SuperGo to Performance switch though...

Don't worry, Opie. I'm well aware that Performance is the Costco of bikes, and can happily say that this evening will be my last day working there. Working two jobs has killed me, but a year at Performance allowed me to build up three sweet bikes (before getting married) and pay off my credit card debt entirely.

But, they use all the major suppliers (SBS, BTI and QBP). They carry the bikes I ride (Fuji and Iron Horse), and their shop has all the tools any other shop would have for wrenching on my bikes. And EP prices are the same for Fox, Thomson, Mavic, etc. as almost any other shop I'd be working at. So, why not work at Performance? It's a great foot in the door, and they'll hire anyone. ANYONE. :spam:
