Could one of the locals please keep the weather/conditions updated. I know I can just go to the weather channel but as far as I see it the weather forcast is like shooting a dart at the board and just as accurate. So is someone could keep the conditions updated randomly that would be great. I have to travel a long way to get to diablo, I may push my trip off to leaving sunday morning EARLY instead of making it a weekend trip. I have never worried about trips in poor weather before, but $150 in gas, 2 hours of packing and loading the car, and 3 hours driving have made me think twice about making a trip for a rain ride which is hard on equipment and possibly harder on the body. Man am I feeling old lately. Thanks everyone. Dave

I agree. first they say showers, then isolated showers, then possible sun mix with clouds. Which one is it? But I 100% agree with the loading trouble and gas $$$ so we can ride in the mud and rain

Okay, we live 5 minutes from Diablo and my daughter is racing so I'll be happy to be the "weekend weather mom"!!

Right now (Thursday, 11am), it rained early this morning and it's trying to clear up right now. Our local forecast is for rain tomorrow, clear on Saturday and possible showers on Sunday. As the weekend draws closer, I'll keep you updated.

Good luck racers!!

Question: How come everyone complains so much when it rains or don't even ride at all? Wait, stay home so the 5 of us that do ride in the rain will have a guaranteed spot on the podium!:monkeydance:

Thanks for the updates, this information is priceless. Hopefully we will see you all sunday morning. Oh and by the way WhattheHeck You spot me the $140 for race fees, $90 Gas Money, $85 Hotel Fees, and we'll gladly come down and race on YOUR hill, and give YOUR trail crew more work to repair no matter how hard it is raining. I race Jersey in the rain every year and have a blast, but with age and gas prices the rain races just are starting to get old. But go ahead and take as much of the podium as you would like you deserve it if you put your bike and body through diablo on a rainy day. Seriously, not poking fun, you really do deserve that. Riding Diablo in the rain only multiplies the difficulty of their allready awesome terrain. Again see you all sunday morning, ride or race I don't care which I just want to ride Diablo again.:clapping:

I drove 6 hours in the rain to Massanutten to spend 2 days riding & racing in the cold & wet last weekend, considering I blew a wheel cylinder on my car on the way back it was a $600 weekend at least.

I felt like complaining until I realized everyone I met drove farther than I did (no joke).

The weekend before I drove back & forth to Plattekill twice at 2 1/2 hours each time to race in the cold & wet, with gas, food & race fees it was easily a $200 weekend.

Can't recall seeing anything but smiles all around either time. :thumb:

Honestly you are making me jealous, you remind me of the day I would travel year round, race in whatever the climates through at me and loved it all. I am not going to lie, I would have the time of my life even if it was rain and mud to the axles but after 10 years of racing mountain bikes, three children and a wife it is just hard as heck to drag my old sad a$$ to the lifts on a rainy weekend. Call me over the hill but I can not wait a couple years when my son is old enough to travel and race every weekend and mentally I can reason why I do it again. Yes I still ride 5-6 days per week and race occassionally but on cold rainy days I hit one of the local indoor parks or a local ride spot. Enough of my whining, I have talked myself into it, Our group will be there sunday morning, but I think we may just ride instead of race, after all the Open is the next week and that is allready paid for and planned, this will help me justify everything in my own feeble mind. Good luck to all that race sunday, I'll be hittin the trails working the dust off my downhill sled. See you all there.

BE PREPARED FOR MUD FOLKS!!! Rain here all day today (Friday), 50% chance of rain Saturday and 30% chance of rain Sunday. Bring your rain gear!! Temperatures are only going to be in the mid 60's so you might be cold if you get wet -- bring lots of coffee too!

It won't be to bad if it was like last weekend, rain on Friday and even though it was a little wet in the morning, the mud was minimal.

Here's the link for local weather:

http://www.weatherforyou.com/weather/new+jersey/sussex+county.html

The weather station where they gather the data is about 10 miles north of Diablo at the Sussex Airport and they update it every hour, so this is pretty accurate.

Those of you who live a great distance away might want to bookmark this so you can check the weather before you trek up here.

Good luck all and looking forward to seeing you all at the race this weekend. :clapping:

It would be awesome if someone from the park could post which trails will be closed here early tomorrow morning. I'm leaving to get out there at 7 AM, but if alpine, dominion and greenhorn are going to be closed again and everything is going to be ultra-slick (I still suck) I might be forced to stay home and spend time with my family.

Still raining at a pretty good clip, hasn't let up yet. Apparently the rain is supposed to stop around midnight & then pick back up later tomorrow(saturday) afternoon. Only time will tell, but as of right now I can't even see Diablo & i'm roughly 3 miles away.
