In the Northwest.
Soooooooo, where to start. on the 4th of may, my bike got jacked. It was a Transition Double 4X race bike. It was pimped, and I was bummed it was gone.

tonight (5/16) My girlfriend Ruth, my friend Adam and myself went to the bars. We ended up at this bar called the corner club. We were sitting there for all of 2 minutes when two guys walk in and sit at the bar beside us. they start talking to adam and eventually the conversation turns to bikes. adam asks what kind of bikes this guy has, and he proceeds to describe MY BIKE TO ME! I played along ang got his name and number and told him we needed to ride. he was pretty drunk, but I think he started to get suspicious as I was asking a LOT of questions about the bike, so he tried to reassure me by telling me he was a police officer for the city of moscow. I said ok, and we left the bar.

as soon as I rounded the door, I called the cops. 2 minutes later they show up, and I tell them what happened and the guys name. they all know him. they didn;t know his current residence, but apparently he is a known crank dealer who has a history of assault, resisting arrest, robbery, etc. they say there isn't much they can do about my bike and are about to leave when he leaves the bar. they follow him and start talking to him about a block away in the parking lot of another bar. we just watched from a distance. after they cleared, we went to that bar and I started talking to the bartender who was wondering what was happening. I told him all about the night and my bike. he said he had seen that bike at the bar about 2 days ago. he said the guy is bad news, but lives about 2 blocks away. I sent ruth and adam home, and I started running to this guys house. I called the cops on the way and they said they were already there.

he lives at a halfway home, and the cops wanted me to come try to identify some parts, there were a bunch of frames, but they didn't see my bike. I looked at a mini chop shop worth of parts, but didn;t see anything that belonged to me, so I walked outside. as I was about to leave, the manager lady of the house told us to come inside again. she opened the door to the bathroom and their was my double! I was stoked! we took it to the cop station and I filled out a bunch of forms about the night and gave my official statement. they arrested the guy and said I should be able to get my bike back on monday morning! I tell you though, it is wierd being at the cop station at 3 am and not be in trouble! haha.

I am so stoked right now. I get my bike back and the thief is behind bars. the moral of this story, if you steal my stuff, don't tell me about it!

expect more riding pics as soon as I get her back!

That was a great story. I am of the mind that someone needs to beat the crap out of the guy. The cops cant do it but really in Pullman-Moscow guys shouldnt be getting away with stuff like this without have the crap knocked out of them. Thieves get the crap knocked out of them all the time in places like Seattle and Tacoma. Then they move to Moscow and think-hey this is great I can even steal from people I know. Anyway glad you got your bike back.

Kill him in the bar bathroom, go to his house, take what is yours.

How the hell was he running a chop shop out of a halfway house. If it wasn't for the lady being so cool I would tell you to make it rain hell and damnation on her for turning a blind eye. However, that would be wrong in this situation as she found your bike for you.

haha, that lady was SUPER cool, as were the rest of the residents. he was doing a bunch of stuff in his room, and they can't go into the rooms for privacy reasons. she is the person in charge of the house, but only does walk through of the main living areas. as soon as the cops showed up, I guess he started stashing bike parts/frames all around the house, then people started taking notice.

I guess I'm just happy to have my bike back. I owe a huge thank you to the Moscow police department for working with me on this, the bartender at the sandpiper for giving me information, and the residents of the house for being really understanding when we showed up.

Never let your bike out of sight...

and if they try and cut/force/burn/freeze your lock chaise 'em down and dial your cell phone...

That happened right out side my widow about 2 years ago...
