I have just recently seen another person with there brakes set up with spokes. It looked really clean and allowed the brakes to be set up very solid. So I thought I would give it a try.........

It looks cool and all, but I would never do that unless I could put the spokes in with NO BEND. You'll end up with a little bit of flex there, which will rob your braking power. I guarantee you a cable will perform better. It may not matter much to some, but I try to squeeze every little bit of performance out of a U brake.

a friend of mine did that to his mirraco cruiser.

called it the "london mod"

he likes it, and his brake definitely feels nice.

this is the "London Mod": http://flatlandfuel.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=37

it's designed to go with a gyro. instead of using a lower gyro cable, you use two regular straight cables. one going down the right side of your bike to one brake arm, and the other cable going down the left side to the other brake arm.

very cool.... so I'm assuming you had a spoke threader?

Is that an Avid Tri-dangle, or whatever they were called...?

Have any of you ever seen any of these? Similar in concept I guess....
I've got a set, been running them on an old fat chance with machinetech canti brakes. very rigid, very adjustable, very rattly, haha....

I just got a basic cable hanger from work and had to drill a hole in one side but it wasn't anything fancy. haha Just basic stuff. I only saw the idea once but decided to just figure something out and I'm quite pleased. Never seen those before! kinda cool, but i can assure you that my design makes no noise! :brows:

there is maybe a little flex but its ok with me. the over all maintenance is very minimal.

i find it to be a very large improvement over a cable because its stiffer and can be adjusted at the nipples. i wonder how many people are going to have a problem with that last statement.
