Looking to head up for some riding on Saturday and Sunday, anyone know the deal?

I'm assuming that many of the trails off the main peak (Greenhorn, Upper Dominion, Triple Drop) and those lower down on that side (Lower Dominion, Salvation, the Breakouts, Alpine, etc.) will be open for the general riding public. How about North peak runs like Bushwack to Tempest to Victory/Legion/etc.? Anybody got the scoop?

What trails are the Open being held on?

Also...where's the party Saturday night? ;)

typically everything is open but crapchute area including doms denial, frogpond is opened so riders can get down the other side of the mountain. cant remember the trail but had the new step up last year that gets closed. bmw is closed, and that is about it.

Thanks.

BTW, what/where is Frogpond? Is that a new trail not yet on the map or an old one that isn't usually open?

it is the trail that is in almost every domination race, climb up a small hill then you go down a chute, make an off camber left then down small kicker launches you far and onto a wooden bridge.

Frogpond is a race-only trail that's normally closed.

Bushwack and Exodus aren't affected- the start of the Open is off the deck to the right of the lift. It cuts across the mountain, over to the Utah rock garden, then onto Asylum and out into crap chute (under Dom's) and into the US Open berms and field to the finish.

The only trails really affected are BMW, Utah, Asylum and Crap Chute. You can ride the North Peak stuff just fine- Tempest, Exodus, Victory, etc- you just have to slow down and cross the course near the bottom, which generally isn't a problem. The main peak trails are generally unaffected as the course never crosses any of the trails that feed into Alpine.

It's a great time to ride- the lift isn't nearly as crowded as some think, and the vibe is killer.

im so stoked for this weekend, as long as exudus and tempest are open im happy! whats the deal with the pro teams, im sure they dont want to be bothered by all these little dhers but i would love to meet a few of them, its not often i get to be at the same place with all these guys i watch every night(i have a lot of dvds) that would be cool to ride with some too, show them around the mountain!

I'm pretty sure thats not the course. Utah isn't in the Open, nor is Asylum, at least the upper parts of them. Utah is probably going to be closed though because it ends right at crapchute. Asylum should still be okay

most of asylum will be open. it will be closed from where it crosses the ski trail on the left to the chute (berm section and the step-up), bmw and stigmata will be closed, and utah and stalker as well. otherwise, everything else is open... including "das wall" for the very first time.

I know I read somewhere else about the mountain possobly being open the monday after the U.S. open so dont get pissed off and tell me to use the search because I cant find that thread. So will they be open monday May 26? I really hope they are because I have school off that day.

Is the projump really gone? They said in the course description that there would be more jumps and more rhythm to the bottom section

"Downhill
Designed by the Diablo Trail Crew, the U.S. Open downhill course continues to evolve in 2008 with overall improved flow and some creative reroutes. Racers can expect a greatly improved lower course section along with additional finish-line jumps and rythym sections."

Isn't that essentially jumps though? Or something more like dom #5, maybe more like #2 where theres berms and a couple flat corners

it could be wc style, they were dumping all sorts of dirt over there. i think thats for the ds track though. they will do something cool, they are not just gonna have it be plain.
