In the past I never cared at all about how much a tire weighed. I just want no flats, blowouts or rolling off the rim.

But once you get into the lightness game....

What's the best DJ tire for strength plus lightness ?

Kenda K-Rad 26 X 2.3 is 750g according to the bti-usa.com . (1 pound = 453.59237 grams).

Intense DH FRO Lite 26 X 2.35 is 1150g.

Kenda Tomac Small Block 8 Tire 26 X 2.35 is only 590g.

SB8 would be my choice out of those for sure. they hold up super well, especially if you run them primarily on dirt. they do have XC thin side walls but the hold up fine even when pumped up real high. i got one flat using one riding street which isnt surprising since even super thick tires get flats riding over grimey sh!t. they really are super light too..

also the new intense micro knobby should be on your list. they were for sale on jensonusa i think.

Talk about super thin side walls. I just bought my second rear K-rad the other day because I had a blow out due to a freyed sidewall. I bought the first one I think last July so roughly 10 months later I needed another. I did end up buying another k-rad just because of lower price and also looking at my LBS there was really only one other choice at the time which was a DMR moto, which to me also has a pretty thin side wall. I usually like to try different tires just for the experience but The K-rad works pretty good.
And yes, while holding both tires in my hand, the k-rad seemed a little lighter. But that could have been my inaccurate judgment.

the sb8 work great. i use them for everything the only time i have had issues with the thin sidewalls is when hanging up on coping at the skate park other then that it is the best tire i have ever rode. the intense micro knobbys are sick but it is to wide in my opinion but there is talk of a 2.0 coming i cant wait
