"It was a funny angle!"
I cursed at it, I threatened it, I tried to bribe it with promises or ceramic coated bearings, it still wouldn't puke the old bearings out....

seriously, I tried a home made bearing puller using a long bolt and some sockets, then I banged on both ends with a BFH and I couldn't get the end caps to come off.

How do I get the ragged out bearings out of this thing? Hub is from a 2002 BigHit DH, Stout hub.

I emailed specialized and got no response.

If you don't have access to any of the hub specific tools, this will work. This method worked for me on all the hubs I've tried.

Take a 20mm axle (I use a marz. one, something like a boxxer maxle won't work) and insert it just a little ways into the end cap (not into the bearing). Push down on the axle (90 degrees to the hub axis) and the end cap will pop out. Do this on both sides. Next take the axle and slide it half way through the hub. Push on the axle so that it becomes off center in the hub and the end of the axle is resting on the bearing. You can then hammer on the end of the axle to push out the bearing. After you get the first bearing out, it will be easy to get out the other side.

Discostu described it well. If those caps won't pop out, try some penetrating oil, or even soak it with wd-40 a few times before you start. If it's that old, the corrossion can make things a bit tight. Good luck!
