do you realize that sam's worst result in these five races (all which are WC's or at least on WC level) is fith place????? and that he is still WC-overall leader???

get serious. most people (incl. a fair share of WC-riders) would sell their girlfriends to russian mobsters to be on such a "losing"-streak.

He's the only one in the list of every one of the results you posted, how is that bad?

Consistency wins championships, remember that.

Yes, he still leads in the UCI points.... but i don't think he'll be the crowned champ this year, is it still to early to call?

The Guys is FAST though!

this isn't a thread bashing or hating on Sam Hill. i was reading the last results and realized that after the US open he lost a couple of races, that's all.

What is your criteria for "domination"? Mont Saint Anne was neither "muddy" or "slippery" last year and I remember him winning that one :)

Here's the real difference between this year and last. He had one more World Cup round win going into the World Championships - which were pretty late in the season. And after World Champs last year there was just one WC round left. This year there are 4 more rounds after the World Champs so the potential is there for more wins. Not to mention the fact that his results are actually more consistent this year.

that's exactly right...

I don't think he is on a losing streak, there was no doubt minnaar was going to win in fort william, it was soooooo close in andorra...he is still in the leaders jersey and there is only one way it is going to in Schladming, Hill will win that, Mont St. Anne...I predict a Hill victory there too! bromont and canberra, I don't know the courses, but I am pretty sure you won't see Sam off any of the podiums at any of the races to come this year.
It is just amazing racing, and that is what is so exciting about it, that's why I follow it and love it!

Eh, it's just like when James Stewart get's anything but first everyone starts saying he's finished (said the same thing about RC too).

When you achieve a certain level of domination, if you display any less all the detractors jump all over you.

Hill will bounce back, it looks like the other top tier guys stepped up there game & he'll just have to push a bit harder himself, but like somebody else said, the guys' worst result all year was 5th, for anyone else that's great.

I'm loving this year, different winner every race, 10 different guys who could conceivably win, what more could you ask for?

It's more a fact that the other riders have stepped up to his level. When they are all racing at the same level you will get a rider or three beating him by margins that are really close. You have got to look at the times to realize that he hasn't lost a step, the rest have just gained a step or two.

the moto foam is slowing him down. it totally negates the savings from the speedholes
Wrong.

Moto foam is actually a compact (and lightweight) block of millions of speedholes. Use of speedholes do, infact, make you faster. Everyone knows this, that is why motofoam works.

Speedholes.

I don't think the US open and lisbon down town have the same weight as do the WC's. If you think about it, Hill has not won the US open all that many times right? last year it went to Bryn? In lisbon he has never had a good result... it's almost like the otter if you ask me. That aside, 5 place is not loosing, actually, it's winning, and winning points, and that's what matters in a CHAMPIONSHIP. It's kinda sad how people see Hill as some kinda of God, and now he seems to be a looser... pitty. I guess results talk for themselves and the season is still underway, anything can happen in this moment

Funniest thing at the open was when DW walks past me by the pro jump as Hill comes down and I hear him say another win for us, 5 seconds later I was laughing.

Fort William was probebly too slack for him. Bigger riders seem to gain more speed there. And too dry...

Seriously, look at the guy when he´s riding, he´s just on a level on his own. Bring on a steep techy course and he´ll dominate. That´s a fact.

Hey there WhoRyder, how about this then:

Samuel Hill has been on every World Cup Podium since Schladming 2006. If my mathematics is correct that is 9 WC podiums on the trot. That my ill-informed friend is what in this very tight competitive sport, I would call the mother of all winning streaks. Especially considering he was on top of the box in 5 out of those 9 (that doesn't count the Champery insanity).

He has also been on every World Championship podium since 2001, that's 7 years to-date...

So how about you delete this thread and go ride your cycle.......ummmkay?

Thanks.

Hey there horse, I certainly aint a "fan-boy", I'm a World Cup racer my self, just in my spare time when I'm not ya know....shreddin'. I like to come on here and set the record straight. Sammy has finished 2nd (by a miniscule margin) and 5th in the last two, no-one with half a brain-cell expected Sam to win everything this year, it was possible but not likely. That's more to do with other riders bringing some A-game and not Sam getting slower or whatever.

The gaps between 1st and 80th (i.e. full field) is getting down to around the 20sec mark where as it used to be at around 45-50sec mark. So basically Sam has lifted everyones game in just 2 seasons.

Peaty hasn't won a WC since 2006, Minnaar until now since mid 2005. So Sam lost a couple but still finished comfortable on the podium........woop-di-fcukin-do!

Go ride your cycle!

The thing about Sam Hill discussions is that it's taken on the level of other sport dynasties. There will always be people who then hate the success, those who worship it, and those who claim the end at the earliest possible moment. While some are tired of this kind of discussion, I feel that just as with the other sports, this kind of dynasty always helps the sport.

For example, I don't watch horse racing and don't bet on it, but I tuned in to see if Big Brown was going to win the triple crown. Why? Because I love excellence.

One thing I like about Sam Hill, is that he rides so quiet. He's smooth and consistent. That's going to win most of the time.

This is the truth behind it all. And that's good for the sport. So, Sam Hill is good for the sport.
