N* question?

Asa said that they haven't even built the wooden platforms for unloading on Vista. So Vista WILL NOT be open this weekend. The racers will have to pedal over to get to the beginning. Going to tie up Zephyr Chair though darn it! Eventhough they say they doubled the amount of bike lifts, it was still slow this past Sunday.

Wow, they seriously couldnt take an extra couple hours to build the platform for the lift that provides access to the trails that people actually go there to ride? Lame.

That kinda sucks, you'd think more of the focus would have been on the Vista chair. I realize the newer stuff is cool off the Zephyr chair, but the Vista is kinda the backbone of the place.

Gypsy isn't the race course? someone mentioned last weekend that is was. That trail is much better than last year, except for a couple of the rock drops which are still to flat. but otherwise that trail is awesome and would make a great race course.

The main reason that Zephyr opened before Vista had to do with snow and access roads. The Zephyr side opens much quicker to vehicle traffic. It is hard to build an unloading platform when you can't get to the top of the lift. We wanted to race Gypsy first, but got shot down, so we have to pedal a bit. Sorry!

Why no gypsy race, it seems kind of dumb to race karpiel, when gypsy and boondocks are right there

The powers that be didn't want to clog up one of the main Zephyr runs with racers before we open the whole mountain.

People that don't live here never really seem to understand why northstar always waited till around june 20 to open back when vista was the only chair.

You people heard of the donner party? Yeah that's about 5 miles from northstar. It fvcking snows here, and vista faces NORTH:D

Nope. No hiking. It should take about 7 minutes to get to the start from the top of Zephyr.

I remember when it was opening around the 15th many moons ago. I guess my question is.......... Why couldn't the bikes racks be installed when the bottom of Vista became snow free? Then all there is left to do is build the platform when there was enough snow melt at the top? If everyone would have taken my advise in the first place, and build a giant tent over the mountain to allow year around MTB enjoyment we wouldn't be having this discussion!

Because the trail crew are busy busting their asses with shovels and mcleods.

That was the window in the past.....june 15-20. Tomorrow will be the 14th.

The only thing different this year is that they opened an entirely new lift and another side of the mounain weeks earlier.

Quit yer whinin. :D

I think everyone should protest and stay home this weekend. I volunteer to go up however, just to uh, make sure they are uh, working on vista so that it's not so slow next weekend. I'll also volunteer to check out the other trails too while I'm at it.

Really, it's way too slow and crowded. Wait until next week when Vista is open to go. One lift is not enough. Don't go this weekend... Really... You're supposed to be with you fathers this weekend anyhow.

That's because TOO much focus was put on the lower mountain which no one will really ride when the upper is in full force. Work efficiently my friend, work efficiently;) I'm just venting cause I'm staying home this weekend:bonk: I'll see you next Sat:thumb:
