Does a smaller tire effect much?

I just decided to go with a Small block 8 for the back tire but I am wanting to run 1.9 so I can slam the CS a little more and drop some weight but will it be too small? I mean, does a smaller tire effect impact or stability that much?

Manualing it will. Wider tires are more stable for sure. I imagine other stuff as well, I have a Primo 1.95 (I think it is), and its ok, could use a little more contact. To wide is Slow thought, got find that happy medium.

skinny tires roll noticeably faster. usually if you run a larger tire in back it's because you want to run lower pressure and feel a bit more cushion. small block 8's get pretty wide on wider rims. my 2.1 on a wide rim isn't skinny at all. i think a 1.9 in back will be fine. just don't run super low pressure for street.

the small block 8's are supposed to be sick but i would only run it if you are mainly doing DJ's. for weight you should look into the schwalbe table tops. they are good for street and dirt. plus didn't you just get a suburban? the 08's have slightly longer chainstays than the 07 to allow for tire clearance i think. you should be able to run a schwalbe slammed all the way in.

yeah I just got a suburban, i think that the sb8s weigh less and are cheaper. so it seems like good choice since TT are 590 g and sb8s are 451.

Try a smaller tire.

Tires are cheap and have the potential to change the way your bike rides way more than about 99% of the rest of what you can bolt on to a bike frame.

I haven't noticed any manual trouble with my 1.75. It looks ridiculous, but at least it's in back so I don't see it when I'm riding.

used to have Kenda KRad (2.3) both in front and back; liked it for the back, but the front, omg, sometimes it would just slip away leaving you with cracked kneecaps from hitting the stem with the knee way to hard.
switched to a 1.85 Primo DirtMonster in front, the gain in control was unimaginable, especially in dirt. As far as I'm bothered with the looks of it, yes it looks weird, but you get used to that in no time, and which self-respecting riders would rate looks highre than functionality anyway?

i was running schwalbe TT's when i had 26's and then i switched to 24's and borrowed some maxxis max daddy's 1.85 and i went from manualling 75 feet to 15 at best. i would pull up and would always tip to one side or the other. it also felt very twitchy. it could have been the max daddy's since they have raised lugs in the center which is all you are riding on so it felt more like a 1" tire until you leaned into a turn.
you said you bought it already right? then the best way to find out is to try it for yourself.....also let us know what you think.
