from what i hear, there are about 3-4 new sections... bottom is new & not too fun as you mentioned. pits are even worse than last year.

Yup..V Dub and Andrew Pierce (Go-Ride) said the new section is a loose bushy wide straight that goes right down the slope that you have to ride down slowly and pick your way through shifting rock and it is unpredictable. It is burly and gnarly and all but you can't really go fast down it and there isn't a good line. The silt is building up fast since it is very dry. Nice. And they wonder why less ans less people come back each year. I know lots of locals who aren't racing.

sounds like a bunch of whiners to me. Maybe they should come race some of our "DH with a climb" races to get that appreciation back.

Agreed, come down to so-cal where there is NO chair lift accessed DH races, or riding for that matter. I bet the course is longer than 3 minutes too.

Maybe i missed something, but i don't see anything in your description of that section that makes me "wonder why less and less people come back". So what the silt is building up and it's dry. BFD..
Sounds like everything you could want in a tech section of DH and using your words
1. Burly
2. Gnarly
3. Pick your way down with no obvious good line

I was up there for a hike last week (separated my shoulder two days before so no DH for me)

Parts of the NCS trail looked fun but over all I was kinda disappointed in what I saw out there. The build quality on the trails was not as high as I had expected.

Some dude was digging up a DS or 4x track at the base when i was there it was too early to tell how that was going to turn out when I saw it thou.

I would guess (not trying to put words in Krispy's mouth) it's because if they would just maintain and/or repair the original section it would be way better. Just writing off a great part of the course and cutting some new lazy line straight down the mountain isn't going to make things more fun.

Thanks Mani! How did you do? Great to see guys that I have had the pleasure of working with two in the top ten in pro, the fastest American and the semi-pro winner. Way to go CVD, Andrew and Craner! Keep it up!

I did not to mean to sound like a whiny bitch in my previous post. What I was trying to get at is that they are still using the same course that is plain worn out and they replaced some of the most worn out sections with route around through open sections of slope with bushes and loose rock. They simply did not put in the effort to host what used to be a world class event. Yeah for sure I would rather have it super gnarly and ridiculous then boring and easy but with some effort it could have been much better. Many people offered to volunteer to build trail and they were turned down. DV and TBB may have finally seen reality when the entrants added up to approximately 1/2 of signups compared to last year.

Can't find any media at all, any line on some pics? It wasnt the biggest race ever but come on. There were like 100 people watching the carnage in barney rubble on saturday, if anyone has pics from that throw em up.
