So I had been out of the biking scene for a while, and I started working as a bike mechanic again. So after almost a whole year of borrowing bikes for rides. I threw a franken-bike together.
Since my car (B5 S4) takes up most if not all of my money, I went cheapo on everything.
The frame is a 2002 or 2003 P.1
Single speed.
16t rear, 32t front.
Hookworms front and back.
Stock Bomber fork.
Stock DitchWitch rim in rear.
Cheapo front rim, because im waiting to buy some 24''s (after breaking the stock axle, and 3 other crap shop wheels)
Avid BB7 rear brake.
Tektro BMX lever.
Shimano Plastic Platforms
Kona Plastic Bashgaurd
KMC BMX chain
Profile Chain Tuggers
Chopped stock seatpost with Hotrock Flame seat lol.
Newest pic has 3" cromo rise bar.

Everything cost me $100 total.

After a coat of paint

Last week.

today-avid brake, gray cable, 3" rise bar, profile tuggers.

Everyone in our shop rides the centrum once and says, damn this is a really fun bike.
I can imagine it being a pretty fun platform to build on.

Fork is getting swapped with some iteration of a dirt jumper, maybe a D street because A. theres a free one here in the shop and B. I was thinking of throwing some 24"s on there. I would love to do some lightening to the d-street but i cant for the life of me find a how to. Someone here talked about swapping with an air cartridge...?

Fork will come when wheels come.

imo 24s looks gay as fvck on a frame that is ment for (and takes 26" wheels). but a fallguy or superco are a whole different story. plus idk if this is true for the older p. bikes but i have heard numerous times that the bb will be too low.

and you could loose like a whole pound by swapping out the tires. Pretty good for under 100.

Its a paint color sample from Specialized, its the only one they made. I just happened to have the Codes sitting around, why not put a set of Codes and a Masterpiece post on it. Haha, the bike is a lot of fun, I'm not sure if you can tell, but I'm also running a ghost ring to help chain tension.

I saw the ring. Does it hold up to curbs and general messing around? Looks like a fun commuter.

I just moved closer to the shop so Im looking to build something to get from A to B.

Impressive budget build, I did some math today on the cost of MY p2....some 30 times the cost

Although I wasted a bunch of money of stuff like gears, a front brake, etc, which I can no longer afford to run.

These Profile chain tugs - are you sure they're short enough? I know the p.bikes have really short dropouts, I found out first hand that dmr chain tugs are too long. I'm so sick of slipping dropouts, I was close to getting a tensioner. So...to sum up a short rant...sure they're short enough?

Im not sure of the exact model but these chain tensioners are just long enough to work.
I am almost maxed out but they are still tensioning my chain well.

I threw it together so i can ride the pump track without a went noodle fork.
I Epoxied the top caps then screwed them back into their threads. haha
