What a great race. Absolutely loved the course!

Also gotta throw a shoutout to the Lummox crew - didn't get to meet you all but SK6 roolz and one of the other guys (Vig?) I caught on my race run was super gracious letting me pass.

Stoked to get back out for race 2...

You had a super fast run. Glad that I saw you at the hip jump when I did and was able to stop to let you pass. I would have hated to have cost you 3 seconds trying to get to a point for you to pass. I tried to keep up after you passed but couldn't catch back up.

See you at the next race!

THE BURG but missing BOSTON
Building this

And like whale said, not riding it because someone jacked my car keys.
That bike is DOPE!! Give a shout sometime(pm) and come down to the burg for some riding. I know a trail or 2 you may enjoy with that ride. It's free..... well I do require a 6 pack of Sam Adams Summer Ale but the lodging is nice.

thanks everyone for coming! next course is amazing. and you thought this one was long.. hope everyone can make it.

Brad

Again, the course last weekend was fun. Can you confirm that the next course will be on the western slope? Someone on this thread posted that it was going to be on the Basin side.

We are trying to book lodging for 20-25 people. Last weekend, that put us into 2 condos. We have found some houses for rent on West Ridge road that might fit us all in one place. That would work out good as long as the race is still on the Western side.

Here are a few photos from last weekend’s race. I still need to put a gallery together and I’ll make sure I post a link once it’s up.

Steven hitting the first road gap on course

Andy about halfway down the course

Robbie railing one of the berms on the DS track

For those who had not heard, the DS event (think two-cross) was rained out, which was a complete bummer. The course looks super fun and has mad potential for some pretty sweet images, but I only got a few frames in during qualifying before the rain settled in on us.

don't think i'd be out of place here to say that if Stoney has already told us it'll be longer....how on earth would it be on the basin side? thats less than half the length of the western side...

as for lodging; camp!

I agree. However, look at this post from page 6 of this thread:

man what a blast this weekend! cant wait to go back in july.
heard a rumor that the course will be on the basin side:crazy:?!?!?!?
Camp? No thanks, I'll pass. I actually like camping. But mixxing it with races isn't that much fun especially if it rains. Plus, hauling all of the gear for camping is not easy when we are packing 4-6 people in each vehicle. Did you see our rigs last weekend on the way in or out? I had the box of my truck packed as high as the cab.

that's the rumor mill for you. does dhrookie work at snowshoe or have close relationships with anyone in direct control of the courses or race planning?...
he's the only person i've heard mention anything about it, and it probably started as drunken rambling. i may be sticking my foot in my mouth here, but i'd be willing to bet money that there's no way a race would be held on the Basin side. the terrain just isn't there for a race course of Snowshoe's caliber. you think people were mad about the "uphill mudbog pedalfest" a few years ago? well go ahead and try to hold a race on the Basin side and see how much people enjoy themselves then....i don't think you'd be surprised.

as for me, i wouldn't want to race on the basin side anyways. if it's nasty from rainy weather on the Western trails, it's probably twice as bad (at least) on the Basin trails.

EDIT: i only have one request for the second race course: speed

I gotta be honest, Snowshoe REALLY stepped up their game big time. Thanks to all of the trail crew.

I rode by/under the road gap on the pro course. All I gotta say is.... DAMN!!! The course looked like a lot of fun. I did enjoy riding the sport course. There was one of the jumps that I hit a couple times and every time I hit the tree just to the left of the trail on the landing... But that's probably my fault.
