I've been a pinball nut since I was a kid. Now, it's hard to find the damn things. Arcades are dying! What did you play?

Some of my favorites are:

World Cup Soccer

Attack From Mars

Twilight Zone

Pinbot! - I played that all the time when I was younger.

I hang out at this bar where the owner is a huge Kiss fan. He's got an old Kiss pinball machine, and lets people play it, but it's usually broken.

Whenever I go into in arcade these days, the first thing I look for are pinball machines. They are getting harder to find. I remember how ground breaking The Black Knight was when I was a kid...the first machine to be two tiered. Cost 50 cents to play back in the day which was a huge deal.

Black Night was the sh!t! Taxi was also a favorite. The one I played was so loose you could get the ball to place at will in the spinner, Short of picking the machine up, you were good to go.

PLAYBOY and TOUCHDOWN were my favorites.

My parents got pissed when I opened our machine up and put paper clips across the gutters next to the flippers. Ahhhh the early days of hacking.

It's good to see that there are still fans of pinball around. Sometimes it's like asking someone if they know who Johnny Quest is.

He saved Dr. Quest many a times.

The new jonny quest was one of the cartoon remakes I actually didnt mind. The rest have them have been fouled up beyond belief.
Heads will roll if they remake Thundercats. Leave the old cartoons alone!

k, back to pinball, I ran into a problem. Do I get a new dh bike or a pinball machine. It's a hard choice.

When I was a game tech, there was an arcade supply store in SE Portland that had a ton of games on the floor. I would go in for a $5 part and end up spending 3 hours playing pinball.

The newer ones are sweet, but the scoring is ridiculous. I think a free ball on Sopranos was like 250M or some crazy ass score.

250M isn't bad when every bumper hit practically gives you 1 Million. lol
That's what I mean, it's like a million points is NOTHING on these games.

Sort of on topic, anyone (besides me) seen King of Kong? That movie is awesome. G4 had it on a few nights ago and there was talk of a Kong 2 movie.

Back when I lived in Chicago we'd play Funhouse until the 5am last call. I've been meaning to buy one for 10 years now.

Yeah, that was a great movie. It's like you want to recommend that movie to someone, but then you realize how silly you would sound describing a movie about people playing Donkey Kong. But seriously, It's worth watching.

My wife made fun of me for watching it, then when I was watching it on G4 last weekend she got sucked into it. She said "That Billy dude is such a dick!"

G4 has a bunch of videos, Billy has regained the high score and a group of investors have come together to pay for Steve to fly to a tournament to beat him. The rules for scores now include:
Certified boards
Live audience
Referee present

Back on topic:
Comet was also an AWESOME game. Ebay, $500!

Taxi was a blast. I can still hear Dracula hailing a cab in my head.

Oh dam I remember all of those Playboy was my fav & the only machine @ the pool hall I used to hang out in when I was in high school.

I used to work in an arcade & I was the only maintenance guy & kept pinball machines tip top. Now I can hardly play one out cuz no one takes care of them.

South Park is one of my newer favs.

Here is where we play. It is underground in the coolest old bowling alley with 3 bars & $2 pints during happy hour.

Comet was the bomb. Now I remember why I loved it so much. When the ball went down the left straight gutter, you could nudge to the right and the tiny edge bumper on the left would bounce it back into play. Since the machine had a center pin between the flippers, you only had to worry about the right gutter. I've spent many hours on that machine. *sniff*

IIRC the pin was removable. A lot of the old machines had them.

I want to own some pins before they disappear! Really started liking pins as a teenager because of the difference between them and the video games at that time (late 80's arcade quarter machines), although I played both.
Favs:
Pinbot: One of the first ones I played.
High-Speed: "Run the red light!".
Cyclone: "Ride the ferris wheel!", I remember dialing in one of roller coaster ramps and breaking the machines record, POPING SOUND, free game!
Terminator2: Loved the gun feature.
Startrek TNG: Man I spent a lot on this one! First one I played that had all the extra digital stuff. There was a lot of missions to get the final battle!
World Cup Soccer: Had a moving goalie to shoot the ball by. Friends and I started making various bets on the games to make it more interesting.
Theatre of Magic: "Levitate, levitate, levitating woman!", also had big magnetic target.

Cool website that has db of pins!

Also big factor that made one pin more enjoyable over another even if a game had cool features/design/good game play, if it wasn't working properly, tilted toooo easily, or was adjusted to screw the player, wider drains and such, I didn't like it.
