I'm sure you all had it before - that sqeaking/annoying noise coming from the headset after a dusty/dirty ride. well i cleaned the bike really good the other day and it's still there. any suggestions what else needs to be done to rid that sound - thanks

Could be your top cap assembly needs a light touch of grease. Could be you don't have enough HS spacers to get the HS fully tight. Could be your HS is rocking in the Head Tube. I've also seen were dirt gets in the fork clamps or under the top crown and needs to be cleaned out.

I had this problem with my bike for a long time. Thinking it was a problem with the fork, I asked Fox about it and they told me that I had probably forgotten to put on the little silicone ring which goes on the headset between it and the upper fork crown or stem. In fact I did forget to do this, though I've been to lazy to find a replacement and actually put it on to see if it helps. hopefully this is helpful.
