I'm bored, so i thought i'd throw this out there

3. Tony royster Jr.
the only reason he's not at the top of my list, is because his music is all about the drums...don't get me wrong, he is an amazing drummer probably one of the best in world (except for h8r of course) but what separates the other drummers from him, is they are all great drummers, but they also focus on creating great music as a whole band, not just focused towards one person.

2. Morgan Rose - Sevendust

^that was the only site if could find that video on
he doesn't play anything too complicated, but he has a very unique style of playing.

you can't really hear the song on this one, but it's a good video of morgan

1. Mike Portnoy - dream theater

he's a very versatile drummer....he can play just about any style you throw at him, and he's very smooth about his playing, and very good at improvising

oldie but a goodie of mike portnoy

My top 3:

3. Dan Svensson (In Flames) - Nothing crazy technical, nothing crazy fast, but all his rhythms and fills always seems to come together to make incredible music.
2. Brandon Davis (formerly of Vanna) - Local guy, nothing spectacular, but the rawness (for lack of a better term) and occasional unusual beats, paired with a great energetic vibe at small local shows made for a kickass time.
1. Chris Adler (Lamb of God) - That badass friggin' drum fill in the middle of 'Ruin' pretty much sums him up. Not bad for a guy that started off on guitar and "filled in" for drums.

1. Keith Moon.

Thats all you ever need to know about drumming and trashing hotel rooms.
Werd! that'd be my personal choice, I just didn't know what 'current' or 'modern' or whatever the term was, applied to moon seeing as to how he's been dead for the last, what? 30 years or so....

Moonie was so awesome that he was the first person in ever that couldnt hear you because of how awesome he was. He transcended modern.

Rumour is that Chuck Norris originally took up karate because he realized he would never be as cool a drummer as Keith Moon.

Alledgedly his hands moved faster than scientists said was humanly possible...

why does the html hate me?
It's not the html, it's the VB code.

Copy/paste just the youtube number in the URL into the youtube tag. The number is whatever letters, numbers or punctuation comes after the equal sign. In this case:

Top "3" is absurd. No way to narrow it down.

Actually top lists are absurd period.

But lets get "modern". Please investigate:

Dreiky Caprice (Crash Worship, Physics, Morricone Youth)
Dale Crover (Melvins, Nirvana)
Ken Schalk (Candiria)
Dave Grohl (Scream, Nirvana, QOTSA, Killing Joke, Probot, Etc, Etc)
Brann Dailor (Today is the Day, Mastodon)
Emil Amos (Grails, OM)
Ben Koller (Converge)

I dig Brann Dailor, and I've always been a fan of Dave Grohl. Grohl and John Stanier were probably the biggest influences on me when I was a teenager.

of the ones H8R listed, Emil Amos of Grails impressed the hell out of me the most. Brann's super-flashy, so he might appeal to Peart-lovers more.

Crover's sheer power, and ability to seamlessly link into what Coady is doing, is also very impressive.

i know i've made a Joey Baron post before, but he is still tops.
