Can anyone recommend a good wheel builder in the south King County area? I need a new wheel build for my Spec. Demo 8. It needs to be dishless, so instead of just buying a complete wheel and adjusting the dish I thought I'd just have a custom wheel built. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I'm a fan of DH Zone, they built some for my buddy and they haven't been stopped yet.

Recycled Cycles has some great wheel builders in the house and can special order you whatever you and your frame desire. They back it up with the promise to take care of you down the line.

Zeb at Fluidride has built more wheels then you could imagine from what I hear.

Scott (Lumberjack) is the best. Give him a call at Bikeworks of Lake Stevens (425)334-7812. If you want the best wheels hands down, just tell him what you want to use them for, he will ask you some questions and he will give you some options. The options may not seem to be of the highest Bling rating but just close your eyes and let it happen. Break them in and return them exactly as Scott tells you to and you will be rewarded with wheels that will help you hold a line better and corner harder, oh and they will be durable. If you want specific items in your wheel build well you can do that too but it is most likely better to listen to Scott. Scott builds race wheels for racers not gimicks with stickers!

I'll add another Scott recommendation. We were always very happy with the wheels he built for us (not to mention he's fun to bull**** with too :D )

in your mind
call me bias but recycled cycles does offer a full warranty on there builds for the life of the new rim (brake a spoke on a wheel they build you pay for the spoke not the labor, lifetime true, tension,ect.......) and their two head mechanics build a couple hundred wheels a year and stand behind their work. Not to mention the master mechanic there is the essential zen mechanic and can build a perfect wheel in the blink of an eye. so for what its worth you should check recycled cycles out you wont be disappointed. And for what they charge to build a wheel your getting one hell of a deal w/ everything that comes with the build like a piece of mind that you get support for your wheel build to boot.

Well put! Honestly I think roadies get even more geeky about how the wheels must be perfect where a DH can tell a good wheel but not be sooooo picky about it since they are beating the **** out of it. So a good builder is a good builder. I would go with Recycled as they have always had a great wheel for me if its custom, machine built or used. They always true them up and check them for round before handing them over. I have about 4 sets total for random bikes this year and had great luck with them.
