Just wondering how many of you guys think the stigmata wall is easier or do you take the go around which is probably worse.
I think the go around could be better if you were to fall ,which i have done already when it has been wet .But the stigmata i think if you hit it and you slip out could be a bit more tramatic.Any war wounds from the stigmata?

Hah! The "go around" is basically the Intro/AM sign pointing towards garbage woods...there's really no good way around the rock. Too bad my machismo shrivels to nothing every time I approach Stigmata!

I am certain that the wall is a lot easier than some features on the mountain, but it's the commitment of rolling over that lip, letting completely off the brakes and ignoring the fact that the crash pads are there for a very good reason...

Exactly! When I came upon Stigmata 2 seasons ago on a quiet rainy day by myself on a 6" XC bike, riding down the actual feature was a heck of alot easier then the go around, Still pretty nutty.

I finally rode Stigmata last time I was there after trying the go around on several other trips. The go around is definitely very sketchy especially when wet, I crashed once and I have seen my friends crash several times, but the consequences are not that bad. Stigmata is probably easier to ride, but harder to commit to since it just looks scary, but now that I have done it I will do it again.

I've never gone down stigmata I usually go far right and ride the rock channel all the way down. I usually slide out anyway I've fallen each time I've went down it. The slope doesn't scare me, it's the couple rock bumps toward the top of stigmata that get me. I feel like one will knock the rear tire up after the front and send me over.

Only made it up to Diablo once, took the go around and cleaned it with no problem. All the black skid marks leading off the bridge at the bottom of the rock roller convinced me to go the other way.

i think the go around is harder, every time i start to wash out and such, stig is just braking skill-u can do it or u cant. it will take u about 3 seconds to find out

I have to agree those skid marks off the bridge don't help the situation, but regardless as long as its dry and you know how to ride your balls are the only thing stopping you!

Agreed. The rock face was kinda wet that day, and I didnt get a chance to see anybody else do it. Had I seen someone else roll it with no prob, I more than likely would've done it as well. But I can sit here and make that excuse all day :busted:

Feather your brakes, no skidding, and Stigmata is just a flat rock on a slant. No biggie. Just brake check before the rock garden after the bridge. Made that mistake.
