Novice area, phase 1 in progress. We have ladders connecting rock outcrops, graduated drops and ladder trails all in progress, with more to come.

Oh, and please keep an eye out for vandals... some tried to tear down the kiosk and we had to repair it.

Next official work day is August 16, Sat, 9-1.(date corrected)

We should have Phase 1 of the park done before the end of the year and then we will start working on more advanced stuff.

In addition to the skills park we plan on having Freeride trails like the Kessel Run. Please note: The teeter-totter on the Kessel Run is shut-down for now since it is broken. More stunts are going to be added to the Kessel Run like a wooden step-down jump and wooden berms. But for now the focus is going to be on the skills park. If anyone is interested in helping out, then let me know.

let me rephrase that, flt rider is the guy planning the workdays, in charge of the tools and doing most of the building.WSE is our best/biggest/most excellent shop sponsor, but it takes lots of different folks doing lots of different things to make this happen.

I formally tested the 3 new drops on my Unicycle and can approve that they can be ridin with one wheel or two.
I couldnt get enought speed for the two rollers though....maybe that is just from not riding the Uni in half a year.

And I would show up for the work day except for the last sunday series race at Silver.

And Beacon almost killed me today !!!
On the race course when you come rolling down the rock face into the berm into the double section, I was coming waaay hot off the rock and because it is so dry, my front tire washed out and I got sent head first into the small tree on the right side at about 30mph.
But it turned out ok, I headbutted the tree, and although I put up a good fight, the tree won that battle and I am damn sure my helmet saved my life. But the tree has a nice battle wound, about a 3 inch circle of bark and a little of the actual hardwood is gone and is smeared all over my helmet and the side of my bike.

So my advice is to not go and try and charge the race course as if it was wet like it was for the Bomber this year, because it is crazy dry and there is little traction to be had anywhere.

I did the same thing during a beacon race last year. My front tire caught the tree sending my handlebars into the opening of my helmet giving me a broken nose, two black eyes, and a concussion.... not a pretty sight. I still got first place, but barely, and I was hurtin afterwards.

I think a berm should be added after that drop.... just my opinion

This Saturday we're going to be working on some log rides. Chainsaws will definitely be needed.

Which drop are you referring to? This drop has a smaller berm after it:

*snip*
Yea I dont know where he is talking about because there is as much berm as you need after that rock face and you sure as hell arnt going to squeeze any more berm in there.

but about half of that tree that I circled is still smeared on the top of my helmet and across my bike. :poster_oops:

Hey isn't that one of the girls from the West Coat racing team wrecking?

no not this one, the one almost at the end of the course. There the drop, left hand turn, two doubles, right hand turn with rocks, double, bottom of race course.

Glad you are OK, DHbell. I've done all kinds of sketchy coming down that rock face but fortunately haven't punched a tree (yet).

See you at Silver!
Well what I normally do, being the crazy stupid little 16 year old, is air out the top rock and land in the little dirt patch and then air out the last section and land in the berm.... Not a good Idea when is that dry and you are still getting used to the turning characteristics of a whole new suspension set up front and back.

but yea I am stoked for the super D, It kinda sucks though, I just put a 66 on the front of my Haro and that isnt going to climb as well as before... but o well.
My race strategy is to lock on to willy's back wheel on the first climb and stay there untill the last fireroad and then out sprint him to the finish.

here are some uni videos from last thrusday,
after I battled the tree I decided to give up on the bike and grabe the Uni.
sadly after these videos I was trying to 360 the medium drop and bent the cheap crank arms that came stock on the uni.

here is the little drop

and here is the big drop

And Minorthreat,
the Super d was soo much fun!!
my strategy of standing the bike up on a rock at the start worked amazing and I was shocked that no one caught me on that first climb.
