DHX Air 5.0 from 06 Spec Enduro, reservoir valve capped off?

Just noticed the DHX Air 5.0 reservoir valve is capped off so you can't change the air pressure in the reservoir itself...anyone have any idea what is going on here? Is this just a specialized thing or what?

I am having trouble getting the sag set correctly and it is bottoming out like mad. Long story short, due to a medical condition I have gained a bunch of weight but now I can't get the shock setup properly. I was reading about increasing the reservoir pressure but lo and behold you can't change it (I never noticed before because the shock setup was money).

Yeah, it's a Spesh specific shock which eliminates the valve since they are tuned for the Enduro.

I have the Expert, and traded it out for a coil since I'm a heavier rider at 220. It was well worth it IMO since I really like the coil feel, and can fine tune since the valve hasn't been removed.

You can't fit a normal DHX Air 5.0 in a Enduro, which is why the air valve is on the side.

The Boost Valve, which controls the transition from ProPedal to the normal compression charactistics, is what is missing.

I believe if you were to readjust the air pressure in the main chamber, and dial down the Bottom-Out dial, you should be able to readjust your shock to your weight.

Alright thanks guys. My gameplan was to ride the Air until it blew up and then go for the coil, but so far it has been holding up surprisngly well. I would love to put a coil on it now (especially since Whistler is coming up), but it is basically $400 I don't have at the moment.

I have the bottom out set all the way max now, but I know the air pressure in the main chamber is a bit low. My shock pump only does 200psi so I will have to run to the shop and have them pump it up.

throw a capfull or a little more of automatic transmission fluid in the air chamber, it will make it ramp up faster and be less likely to bottom out.

to do this just let all the air out, and remove the sleeve over the shock body and then undo the shock. very simple process

This is according to Spec. I think.

I had a large Enduro and looking at it with a DHX Air from another frame with the normal air valve it would have plenty of clearance. I thought we looked at a medium (it might have been Monkeybidnezz's frame?) and it looked like it would clear too.
My guess is it was only a problem with the small's.

I did see a while back where someone had just drilled a small hole where the valve cap would hit to give it clearance. I think they were mounting a ciol though?

I heard you could fit a coil shock in there...

The thing that really sucks about this is I was thinking I could sell the air to offset the cost of the coil, but since it is a specially valved one I am thinking the resale value will be much less than normal.

I pretty much was able to do a straight swap since the DHX Air commands more. I got the DHX coil for 250 @ Cambria when they had a special going on, and sold the DHX air within 3 days for the same cost.

There are some pretty good deals out there, you just have to keep your eyes open.

I was able to squeeze a Roco TST on my 06 small enduro. I did have to leave the valve cap off, but it did fit. WAY better ride than the stock OEM DHX Air. The bike really came to life after i made the swap. The nice thing about the TST is you can Lock it out, have it in Pedal platform, or fully open like the World Cup, all via a switch.

I have a small 06 enduro and i am considering changing the rear shock as it feels 'wooden'. Do you have any pics with the Roco TST?

I just got an Enduro and am considering getting a Roco TST like you. I mentioned it to the owner of my LBS (very good bike tech) and he said he thought the TST 'lockout' wouldn't be enough to pedal efficiently on long climbs. My old frame (Azonic Saber, FSR suspension with a DHX 5 coil) I did notice a difference when ProPedal is all the way on but its by no means locked out. How do you like pedaling long distances with the TST? The LBS guy said he'd choose a DHX 5 coil if it was up to him.

i was under the impression only a fox or progressive would fit the enduro do to the oversize
adapters in the rear. Please post pics of the roco tst on there. So if the roco tst fits then would a regular roco coil work as well or do they have different size bushings?
