WTF? I tried to order a North Face jacket today. Denied.

And Oakley is denied too?? I've ONLY ever ordered Oakle stuff from SAC. Rules must have changed recently

Hi Michael,

We’ve created a service ticket that will track our correspondence with you. That way we can give you and your order all the attention you need, and do so with downright dazzling efficiency. Thanks for your order.

Unfortunately, we aren’t allowed to ship The North Face brand items on your order. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience; this is a policy set in place by our vendors. If we break it, they’ll yell at us—or worse.

Below is a list of brands that we can’t ship internationally.

-ACR
-Arbor
-Arc'teryx
-Burton (this includes: Burton, Anon, Analog, Gravis, R.E.D., Mark XIII and Idiom)
-Canada Goose
-Cascade Designs (this includes MSR, ThermaRest, Platypus, SealLine, and Tracks)
-Chariot Carriers
-Fritschi
-K2 (this includes: K2, Line, Marker, Technica, Volkl)
-Lowa
-Oakley
-O'Neill
-Polar
-Nixon
-Ride (this includes: CAPP3L)
-Thule
-Vans
-Patagonia Footwear
-The North Face
-Western Mountaineering
-Yakima

We apologize; we know how annoying this is. Many of our international customers opt to have their orders shipped to a friend or family member within the United States. If this is not possible, we’ll be more than happy to send you a different item.

Please respond within 3 days and let us know if you would still like us to ship the rest of your order and/or if you have a US address you want the restricted items shipped to. If we don’t hear back from you in 3 days, we’ll assume you want to cancel your order, and we’ll go ahead and refund your card.

Please note that international orders may be subject to tariffs, customs duties, broker fees, and associated assessments. Please inquire locally. These fees may include Import Duties, Value Added Taxes (VAT), and Customs Clearance Fees. These costs are entirely the responsibility of the purchaser. The shipping charge by Backcountry.com does NOT include any of these fees. If these customs fees apply, they will usually be charged by the company that delivers the package.

If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to email us back or call us at 800-946-5824. You can also click on the "Chat Now" link in the upper right hand corner of our website for live help.

For your records, your order number is . Have a great day!

Thanks,

Blame the Chinese. If they weren't constantly counterfeiting US made goods, this wouldn't be such an issue. It's our fault too though as we let them make everything for us. If we made our own schit, we wouldn't have given them the ability to grow as fat as they have...

I would bet its more cause Canada charges so much more than US. When the dollars became equal or Canadian money became worth more (not sure which it is anymore) Canadians started shopping south of the border to save money. It happened with snowmobiles last year. Manufactures were penalizing US vendors who sold to Canadians. Oddly enough when the roles were reversed no one cared. Its funny Canadians pay like $2 or 3000 more for the exact same snowmobiles than we do in the US.

Moral of the story? Blame Canada.

Has nothing to do with what canada charges, they get their taxes either way. It has to do with distributorship zones. You buy from steep and cheap it's Oakley USA getting the sale, when it is actually Oakley canada's territory.

Many multinationals are like this for retail.

Apparently the rules aren't the same for close-out itiems...(just got this response

Hi Michael,

Sorry for the confusion! No worries! We can ship Oakley, but only from our closeout sites, ie. steepandcheap, whiskey, backcountryoutlet, etc. No need to fret, it's still all good! I'll go ahead and cancel your order for the North Face item. And we look forward to your orders in the future!

For further assistance or information, simply reply to this message, chat live with us, or give us a ring at 800-409-4502 day or night

That doesn't leave a whole lot of worthwhile shiz to buy on SAC. Chainlove has pretty much been teh suck lately too. Good thing I'm more or less set up with everything I need now.

I'm waiting on some leg armor and a new X9 from Pricepoint. Their shipping is slow. USPS? Poop.

I was checking out iPod touches online the other day. The 32 GB model is 469 in Canada and 499 in the US. I think that's a first.
