Is that an e-type derailleur mount on the chainstay near the main pivot? cool.

Too much going on for my tastes as far as the graphics go and I don't like the proprietary shock mount.

I do like the lines and it looks well thought out though. I'm sure it rides very nicely.

It's actually a Direct mount similar to the mount on the Enduro from last year. Spec is trying to go to Direct mount F. Der. on all of their higher end fullys to eliminate any confusion with different mounting types. They are also supposed to shift better with them mounted on the chainstay. I have the 09 Spec Dealer book in front of me right now, so go ahead and quiz me.

Is it my impression or it´s just impossible to up-grade the shock if you want to?!?!

It looks good but I am on the fence about the tapered headtoobz still. But you still would be able to run a 1 1/8 fork if you bought 2 headsets right? (a reducer and a standard, using the bottom half of the reducer set and the top half of the regular one):clue:

Looks like I found a suitable replacement for my '06 sx. I do hope either there's another decal option or that those are easily removeable. I'll take mine annodized or polished, thanks!

Interesting. I've been riding SX's for years now, and really love my current ride, a 2005 SX.

A few things to note from this photo:

No water bottle mounts, but a front deraillure mount... huh.

There appears to be a longer seat tube. Awesome! I carry 2 seat posts in my truck to negate this setback on the '05.

Proprietary shock mount- or is it? I'm curious as to just how it mounts to the shock, and if it'll accept any old Fox air shock. There's nothing wrong with an RP23, but it would be rad if an old Float or a DHX Air would mount up.

Non-adjustable geo? I finally tried the steep/tall position for the Downieville XC race, and it felt really good. It's nice to be able to switch it up for Super-D races versus slalom races and such.

1.5-1 1/8 combo head tube- awesome! Stops that creaking my E150 fork has been amplifying.

Any word on the travel? Still 4"? Weight? Stiffness?

I wonder which part will fail constantly... Specialized has a horrid track record of releasing bikes that all fail on the first couple production runs.

Looks o/k design wise, I was waiting to see this one.

Graphics are horrible in lately typical specialized style, but after a strip and anodize it'd be a lot better. On the other hand, that'd be pretty costly on top of an already expensive frame. :twitch:

PS - if anyone is selling an 05 or 06 SX in long (and will post to Oz), I'm interested.

One relates directly to riding, the other only to your ability to squirt dogs chasing you. I guess they had to prioritize.

This thing was designed as a 4x/slalom bike initially. I guess neither has a place :D

Like most people I wondered, 'who the hell is coming up with these paint schemes?'

I actually rode with the guy a few weeks ago. Nice feller. I definitely get the impression he catches endless hell for what spec has put out the last few years.

I haven't seen 'A' around in years. Back in the day he would show up at the dirt jumps and actually throw some pretty mean nac nacs.

Initial thoughts, im glad I have a wheel mounted car rack, i hate the paint scheme and the shock mount. I wonder if theres a way to do away with that stiffening tube below the shock.

I like it. I still like my D7 Tattoo though, so my opinion will prolly get tossed in the weeds.

Ive got a pair of all red I9s looking for a home... that frame will do.

looks like the front der, bolts right to the frame (or in this case chainstay) much like some road frames.

damn, sniped by 1 minute.

So pretty much a braze on then.
Kind of. Just not 'brazed' per se.

When you buy an e-type nowadays there's still the bb mounted plate but the derailleur part is bolted to that plate. Specialized just makes a bolt on mount so the plate isn't needed. Plus you get the derailleur mounted in such a way that it moves with the rotation at the main pivot. It's worked well on my enduro SL and cannondale did something similar with their old jekyl frames.

definately different than a braze on. THe braze on mount is a vertical slot up on the seat tube where a traditional der would mount. It allows vertical as well as rotaional movement of the der to align it with different chainring sizes.

This is simply an e-type. THe same e-type that has been around for ever. Go look at an e-13 DRS from 4 years ago....they had the exact same mount. You just ditch the bb sandwich plate that adapts the e-type to the frame and bolt the der to the frame.
