Riding in Sand

The unique part about where I live in northern California coast is that I have some amazing sand dunes, things that I could only dream of biking with tons of natural jumps. Questions are: Are there any riding tires out there that are made for sand? What makes a dune buggy be able to go in sand besides the torque/power? Even what makes a sidewinder snake be able to move across the sand the way it does? I was thinking I would need something with lots of surface area but the problem is that we all know how limited of space we have on frames for tires. I think that we would need a ridiculously light bike with wide flat tires although some tires that could fit on a my blur 4x would be bad ass; any imput would be appreciated.

*note: please correct my spelling/grammar because I'm working to improve

I reckon you would never be able to pedal enough to get any speed what so ever :/ On MX-bikes there are special tires, which has paddles. But I can't imagine anyone on a regular bike being able to generate enough power/torque for it to be fun. Dune buggies often have paddle tires too.

<-- 1.35 in you can see someone riding a mx-bike with paddle tires, if those are the type of dunes you mean I think you just have to get a mx-bike.

Spray a bunch of water mixed with super glue on the sand to add structural stability and then run a 2.1 tire, you should be fine.

Now I'm off to buy stock in super glue
