Has anyone here heard of MDE Bikes? Ran across them yesterday. There higher end frames look nice. There lower end single pivot frames look like some of the Mail Order Frames I have seen around. Makes me wonder if all their frames are Mail Order with their name on them or not? Not that it really matters if they work great and stand behind their product. Can someone shed some light here? It’s cool to see all the Europe Bike companys product we can’t get here in the US.

Well it says they are hand made in Italy, so most likely they aren't a catalog frame. However with the weak US dollar I don't know how cost effective it would be to buy one if you are in the states. blah blah blah yeah it has been said before.

I looked into their single pivot earlier this year. They are not available in the US, something about insurance and/or patent issues.

Sb on the mtbr dj forum praised their alu dj frame. DH models are rather ugly and have medicore geo. There are better euro companies than that.

They are very nice bikes. I was going to buy one but the obscure customer service and foreign language deterred me and I went with Ventana and Turner. Unfortunately MDE's website talks more about "Italian Styling" than the functionality of their impeccable bicycles.

If it looks like cove or turner and has nothing really special about its geo or susp then why bother to get it to us and pay for extra because of the low dollar?

I was gonna say, looks like a knock-off of a DW bike or a VPP.

Although from what I know, Dave has to "optimize" the pivot locations on every different frame that is designed, so unless they have him doing that, this is just an immitation of the DW link. Or VPP for that matter I guess.

Sorry, just e-speculating.

I will say that I like the geometry on this bike though.

nevermind my SP comparison. I googled it and it wasnt what my memory serves me as. It still looks very DW-ish although thats just a visual interpretation and not at all what it actually is (i think) I dont claim to be a suspension expert so i just make **** up as I go along.
