tonic fall guy, USB molly, or the one i just got in the mail, NS capital. all use bmx hubs. i went with the NS because it has shorter chainstays, its a little lighter and cheaper, and it plays better with a rigid if i decide to switch to one.

i really like the look of the tonics with their curved seatstays though.

The new Tonic's don't have the curved stays anymore I believe. Jelly, what about the 24" of love thread?

any thoughts on dmr's two 24"ers, the transition and rhythm i think?
have only used the rythm a couple of times, although it's 24", chainstays are still rather long (like 3" space between tire and seatstays), and geometry doesn't feel like "throw around for street" to me. + I have really bad experiences with dmr, broke 2 sidekick frames.

Hey, thanks for mentioning Tonic in this thread.

We haven't built a curved seat stay FG in over a year.

The new Fall Guy is well under 5lbs, has 14.25" stays, and a " 22" " top tube.

Current frame:

It's also the most expensive frame on the list, and unfortunately sold out for about another 6 weeks.

If I was interested in riding rigid forks and 3"+ bars, I'd just get a nice cruiser.
The forks have to be loads stronger (than rigid MTB) and I don't think running a cross bar in a 3"+ rise bar is a worst idea the bike industry has come-up with.

wow that frame is sick

You should update your website with that info, if id had known that they had changed i might have coughed up the extra money for it but all i saw was the old info.

maybe for my next ride

ill miss the curved seatstays though, thats what set them apart from the other frames as far as looks are concerned.

i might just have to take the ole dremmel to my dropouts on my NS capital to match the 14.25.

I know what you mean but the thing is, who is making a nice cruiser? Besides Melms one-off's and maybe the old Brooklyn's I don't know of anything non-race specific with good geometry.

I still think a 24/26" DJ/Park specific fork has some demand to be produced for a lot of us. I see a fair bit of some big mods on existing forks - some made for freeride (Z1, Pike). Others have been going long rigid forks - which present the problems you mentioned. Atomlab's 1st round could use work and the last I talked to Mike and Hack via email, they said a 2nd round of updates are coming thru. I can't wait to see it.

The cross bar does stiffen up a 3" rise bar but man do they look aweful. I had Thick make me a 4-pc a few years ago - I requested a very small OD tube for the crossbar - and had Chris put it as low as possible. It didn't look bad but wasn't great either. It was a pretty stiff/strong feeling pair of bars tho.

BTW, beautiful frame Landon. If I wasn't riding my USB, that would be my next choice.

fits got a complete cruiser coming out in october
it'll come in flat black and chrome and its gonna be called the cr52
msrp-$550
Cool - I'm sure it will be looking good - I wonder what geometry they will be going with.

That WTP looks great but it says the CS is 15.25" - my USB for comparision is 14.7" - only a half inch but it seems to set Tonic and USB's off for their snappy handling. Also that WTP has a 74.5 deg HT angle. IDK, I think a little slacker would be better with the 24" wheels - like 73 degrees. Yes, I'm nitpicking but - geometry is the one area where cruisers have been lacking.
