Hi,
I was wondering if the DHX that came with the 2008 Demo 8 is a normal DHX or is somehow custom for the frame, and will any old 8.75 by 2.75 DHX fit on the Demo using the appropriate spacers.

I know the Swinger on my 2005 D8 had a small eyelet so a DHX needed a extra reducer.

Thanks for any help,
-Zach

It is a stock shock as far as i-2-i and stroke are concerned, I don't know about any custom valving though. Any old 8.75x2.75 shock will fit on there, provided the eyelet is the right diameter since it uses specialized custom mounting to the sealed bearings rather than a DU bushing......

OK thanks. Does the shock that comes with the demo have standard 15mm eyelets though? From the manual it look like the rear uses a 15mm axle in the rear and a 8mm bolt in the front w/ reducers. I this right?
Thanks

I believe it is 15mm, but I'm not 100%, it is somewhere right around there. It seems to me that progressive, fox, marzocchi, and maybe rockshox all have the same od for the DU bushings, but Manitou definitely has a different size.

I recently bought a demo 8 frame and put a Vivid in it.
Fits and feels beautiful.
Can highly recommend over a 5th, swinger, or DHX

Nice bike, but what's wrong with the picture? Was it distorted and you fixed it or something? :brow:
Nothing is wrong with the pic, it is actually that long and low...

Tubeless is awesome. she weighs about 18 kilo = 39.6pounds
