Solo sounds brutal. The footage I've seen of angelfire looks tough... those woods/rocks sections. dang.

I did a solo 8-hour one at Silver Mountain in Idaho about three years ago. Each top-to-bottom run is 15-20 minutes. Most exhausting fun I've ever had. Ours was all daylight, though - - a night segment would have been awesome!

Aside note: All five of us on the podium were solos - - we beat the relay teams :D

It's got to be most total runs. Lifties probably mark your ticket each time up, most marks wins. Something like that.

Sounds awesome.

I think they will do GPS chips, thats how the 12 hour ski races we used to do were done, give you average speed, max speed, vertical feet, number of runs...

Hopefully they do it like that with a few categories, highest average speed would be cool especially if they track it by the hour so you could see how much you slow down throughout the day

I wonder if there will be any rules regulating equipment, like you have to start and finish with the same frame. That way just riding fast won't give you the win you would have to ride fast but at a pace your equipment would survive for 12 hours.

I am almost positive the winner will be determined by who does the most laps/runs.

Maybe they could add some bonus points/prizes for fastest run at certain times during the 12 hours.

Every now and then when I read ridemonkey, I'm bummed I don't live on the east coast. This is one of those times.

But I feel better about it all winter :D

It's not West Coast, It's Not Coast. :D

We should! I don't have school Thursday or Friday and I can not go to school Monday if we come back that day. Maybe I should skip the N* race and do this the next weekend.

Sick! I just got an email about the Burner, looks like the announced the tracks they'll be running! Mmmmm... new Angel Fire DH tracks...

TRACK #1: This is the straight up World Cup Track: lots of rocks, great flow, and all the gnar you junkies have come to expect from Angel Fire!

TRACK #2: This BRAND NEW DH course is called the "Supreme Dream" and it's looking like a GREAT track. It starts within 100 yards of the Chili Express Chair lift and traverses the area just to the right of the chair lift. We walked the course yesterday from top to bottom and we think that course is going to be a great time on two wheels, with some steep drops plus a few jumps and berms near the bottom.

TRACK #3: Just after the Chile Challenge, Angel Fire went and built a super fun flowy greenish/blue type run, that we're planning on having serve as the "recovery" course It is a fun easy course anybody can ride so all you begginers and sports there is a sweet course for all you guys. This course will also be great for the solo guys and gals who need a rest and still achieve a lap count.
