Anyone use them? So far i've tried a few, listed below

I have tried E13's in the past, still run one now on my Blur but its heavy, and being in the UK, the bottom roller collects far too much mud, which causes further drivetrain issues...

MRP - Well, i'm running the carbon right now, and the bash is utterly trashed in far too quick a time. It would be great on a 4X bike, but a DH bike + rocky tracks = expensive. The lower roller system seems to be a lot better and doesn't collect so much mud, but even though its billed to be light, its not actually 'that' light.

MRP G2 & LG1 arn't actually that light, especially when you add the essential skid plate on the LG1.

The latest I have considered is the Gamut P30, as I run a 36T chainring. But info is a little thin on the ground regarding these. I notice they run a similar system to the MRP lowr roller which will work better for UK conditions, they appear to be a reasonable weight, so is there any reason I shouldn't be considering one?

The guide itself works great. In my experience (and that of friends) the bashguards are not nearly as strong as the e.13 supercharger (or any aluminum guard). Don't know much about the material but the mounting holes are counter-sunk very deep, leaving only a very thin amount of the bashguard for mounting. (The e.13 method of using longer chainring bolts and washers seems like a much better approach.)

If you get one, be very careful not to overtighten the chainring/bashguard bolts. I am ham-fisted but I actually used a torque wrench to the recommended spec. I still got some spider-web looking stresses at the bolts, and my guard did not last one day at Northstar. I replaced it with an older aluminum guard and have had no problems. Others have no problems so it could be just me, but it's hard to blame overtightening when I used a torque wrench.

Cheers for the heads up on the bolts, I shall remember to be very delicate when nipping them tight!

I think i'm going to give one a go, as I want to build this bike up as light as I can realistically, without going OTT on parts.

I can imagine even if the bash is weaker than the E13 offering, it will still be substantially tougher than the MRP carbon one, which is now looking pretty sorry for itself. Looks like thats getting relegated to an easier life on my 4X bike, as it can't hack the pace on the sort of tracks we have over here!

I've hit the Gamut bash very hard on rocks plenty of times with no damage. The bonus side is the entire P30 guide and bash is lighter than the E.13 supercharger by itself.

They also change the bash slightly to make it lighter but stonger than the previous ones. I'm sure that they will still be sensitive to torque on the bolt but that have supposely addressed the "problem" which wasn't much of a problem to begin with.

Wasn't too impressed with the Gamut bashguard.
I fitted one to my E13 SRS as the cut-out sections shed mud better than the E13 bash (the E13 bash holds mud between it and the chainring causing the chain to ride up on the ring if you don't clean it all out every few runs in good ol' UK muddy conditions) I bent it (and my stupidly weak E13 guide ring) to F'K on it's first proper rock garden hit.

WindowLicker: The reason the logos are rubbing off is due to your single-speed set-up. I have seen this happen when people try to run wider than normal BMX chains single speed and their chainline is off. This does not happen on a normal multi-speed set-up.

I have been running Gamut guides from day one of the company and you won't see me running anything else. They are simple, light, strong, and keep your chain on. What more can you ask for?

I figured it was my chain.
Plan on getting the chainguide when I get a fully. And your right, they are light and strong, can't go wrong.

Last one I looked at was noisy - unless they've changed to a soft rubber I can't see them being any different now. Nice and light though.

I love my Gamut. I had the older version and had my LBS installed it. Unfortunately, the LBD overtightened it and you can see spiderweb cracks originating from the bolts. I emailed Gamut (luckily they are just down the street from me) met the owner, and he replaced it for no charge! Really cool guy and he races semi-pro in the sea otter.

I was so impressed that I am a Gamut guy for life.

I like mine too. It can be a bit loud if the inner guide plate is too far towards the chainring and the chain catches the inner lip of the bottom roller. When set up right it is dialed.

I'm running a P36 on my Demo 8. Easy to install, works well, but a bit noisy due to the plastic roller.

EDIT: bashguard needed some trimming to fit my diabolus cranks.

I have the 2008 model on P30 and it fit perfectly with my 2008 diabolus cranks.

Did the bash ring have a cutout? I'm running 2006 cranks and it wouldn't clear the beefy spider. I thought about putting on an MRP or e13 bashguard (which did have the cutout) but figured that would be disrespectful. :brow:

got my bike set up with a g25 and a 34t ring. i've run it on a bottlerocket and my UFOST with both deity and hone cranks. the thing is light and it works. i did have a problem with the lower guide bolt coming loose and finding out it was an imperial (not metric) bolt size. a bit of luck and i did find a wrench to do the job and some loctite to keep it bolted on for life.

I used one for a while but after over torquing the cranks botls the bashguard cracked. It's light alright but I don't think it's as strong as other offerings out there. I find it interesting that Minnaar has to run like 3 bash guards on his bike just to feel safe. I did some digging and was able to find these pics.

but whatever floats yer boat. Some people prefer BlackSpire, some MRP, some e13 and others Gamut - nice to have options...

Minnaar's mechanic has since added a second Gamut "taco" to the first one in Andorra.
FYI the reason these were installed was because he was used to the Honda gearbox bashplate. The Honda bikes not having a chainring allowed for a bit more clearance, and a much stronger surface to bash into, so to speak.
