Very nice! Obviously you will be busy and having some fun building those two beauties up.

I'm sure your alarm at finding those sitting outside was a heart rate raiser!

Hope to see you post these up all dirty some time soon.

This should be good I definitely want to hear some reports on FS bikes as I want to build one over the winter. Actually I should say I want to build either a FS or a Hardtail over the winter, either would likely be a 1 x 9

Both are for me. I'm greedy like that. Soma will be built as an SS (long term low budget project) and the Sultan will be a blinged out 2x9.

The rockers are from a 5.5 Spot. Push 5 spot rockers work well too.

The plan was to get it dirty tomorrow after the build tonight but TS Fay dumped so much rain here that I doubt that any riding will happen.

DA BEARS.
i'm interested in trying some different rockers on my sultan.
i had my shock pushed and just leave my pro pedal off regardless of riding condition.
push service resulted in a perfect balance/ feel to my rear end...

so will that Sultan get 5" of rear travel set up like that? That paint is pretty cool. It reminds me of that speckled toothpaste that some companies are selling these days.

Let us know how you like the Ardents.

Travel change is very minimal but it does change the shock rate curve, making the beginning stroke a little more plush with more ramp-up at the end.

I've been on the prototype Ardents for a while now and I love the performance for my trails (southeast). The ones pictured are the retail models that I purchaed based on the prototype experience. I'll run them through the winter and once spring arrives the rear one will be replaced with a CrossMark for hardpack duty.

Damn SS, gotta keep my eye on you, next thing we know you'll be riding that 29er on that rock wall; pictures please. Both of those bikes are gonna be sweet, your Sultan is top of the line. I guess I'll have to stand in line with everyone else to find out about those Ardents. Hope you get some good weather, look forward to the report.

MMcG - No regrets on the purchase. This bike rides great. The DW link is cool and new but I can wait which might net something closer to a 5.5" travel sultan!!

Turtle - the Ardent is one sweet tire. It is probably one of the best cornering tires I have ridden (26 or 29), especially considering that it is a 2.25. I have been riding it on my Spot since May-ish and one of the borrowed Sultans I've ridden over the last 4 weeks had one up front. The terrain here is very rocky and where there are no rocks it is hard pack that is sometimes sandy.
Here are the measurements I took @ 30psi on Stans Arch rims.

each was 750g
2.15" at the casing
2.23" at the widest knob

Moff - yes those are the Hope Moto brakes. They do not hae the vented rotor however. I love them and don't care about weight.
