No. They are from a time after those boys. Although when they we're staring to get noticed at home Ronning at least was still on the WC, norba? program. Not sure about Sharples. Millsy and Brad, have done a little OS time but never WC regulars as all.

kelly is pretty old school, i have an aussie mag from 96 with him testing a GT boomerang LTS and a cannondale moto
he is a nice guy to top it off too!
He and his crew were happy to include a mate and i in their shuttles for a day at lithgow, even though we were clearly rank amateurs on 2 week old bikes.
thats the sort of attitude you'd like to see more of!

In fact I'd put money on him not even winning a WC before the season is out, not looking good so far is it! Gee on the other hand, Gee I really believe could take the overall. And with Rach a sure thing (barring injury, in my mind) for the women's, that'd be a pretty tidy double win
Blue skies and sunshine is sometimes a good trade off for a less burley mountain.

I feel like an addict this year when it comes to the Worldcup racing. I'm really bummed about how disconnected this current race feels. Nice vid from Dirt but not a whole lot of other news beyond that. Obviously it's on the other side of the world from me but that time difference should mean I have something to read and look at when I get to work in the morning
Hopefully more will start to roll out. I guess we've been spoiled this year with the instant information coming out of the European and North American stops.

The track may be a bit flatter than other WC's but it looks challenging....
yeah, from that video it looks really tough to keep rhythm dialed through those bumps!

also, im assuming you have to go through UCI to get a press pass for the WC's?
No, the UCI has a photographer on staff every year to provide their press release photos, web photos etc. Gary has that contract this year, Frank Bodenmuller did last year.
Yes, UCI and promoter for press pass. As of next year, things will begin to get very tight for press passes, finally. Too many riders have hit "photographers" this year (Greg Minnaar, 4 times). I use the term photographer loosely, as a guy with a camera phone and a press pass should not be on the course and is certainly not working press.

i did see the video of Minnaar smashing into a "photographer" while he was crashing.
im looking forward to hopefully attending the canadian WC next year as a photographer.

The scheduling of the race there is spot-on. The problem lies in the fact that DH is not an Olympic sport. I'm sure there'd be a full field there this weekend otherwise.

Check out Dirts website it has 2 days of flippers 5 a day...
Most of the other "better" tracks are under a foot of snow at the moment. The northern tracks which are rideable, aren't legal or don't have the infrastructure to support a WC.
Nah mate... it has changed a lot. I was a fairly vocal critic of Stromlo after the first time I saw it. When you see it now you might re-think that opinion.
I can't say I think it's perfect, (the finish straight sucks nuts) but it's different to the regular WC stuff and looks like mad fun to ride.
Anyway, I'm just heading back to the hill now. It's awesome seeing the international guys here for a change as Australia hasn't hosted a WC round in 12 years despite being a considerable presence on the WC scene.
Oh and it's got like a 150 metre rock garden now! Yeeew!
It looks like this track is a larger Fontoilet. Large rocks and dusty with some large pedal sections. So im going with Kovaric. It is like if Diablo had a WC, the course would be short and It stinks. Like smells funny down there.
Well, im always prepared to stand corrected. But i watched the Aussie nats a year and a half ago, and rode stromlo in March / April this year and was not impressed on either occasion.
I don't care thaaaaat much anyway, im not riding it, everyone can make up their own minds about the track, im just going to drink beer and make noise!!
This just in - Matti Lehikoinen has gone down hard and broken both wrists.
