Where did you get those prices? Not even close to what CRC is charging.

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/SearchResults.aspx?Search=saint

Crank set $250ish
Front hub $73
Rear hub $160
Brakes $195
Derailleur $110
Shifter $60
thats because CRC is charging british pounds, and at the time, the US dollar sucks and the pound is strongly overvalued......so yeah, pretty much double all of those prices to see what it would cost in US dollars......

edit: before some busted tooth brit tries to call me out.....

no you can convert the prices to USD on the CRC website...

crankset $269
derailleur $129
brakes $228

so where ever you got those other prices, they is crazy man!

although on www.competitivecyclist.com the cranksets start at around $300....
hmmm

I stand corrected, those prices do exist for Saint stuff in the states....
totally crazy! strange that CRC is that much less

I just did a little research and Cambria is, in fact, selling at the prices the original poster stated. Seems strange that they can be had for so much less at CRC.

CRC always has stellar pricing on Shimano stuff.

Make sure you use their currency converter, the UK pricing includes the VAT which isn't charged for export, so you can't convert the UK pricing directly.

Americans having to buy bike parts in Europe to get good prices - the wold is no longer as we know it.
Get used to it. With the relative strength of the GBP and Euro, they can buy direct from Asia then sell it to us pretty cheap.

Another nice thing about CRC is they have FREE shipping to the U.S. on all orders over £150GBP. I ordered a set of XT cranks and 3 Maxxis Wetscreams (which aren't even sold in the U.S.) from CRC last spring and was psyched with the delivery time, price, and service.

Isn't CRC the UK version of Beyond Bikes which sucks here in the US? I could be totally wrong but I thought I heard that somewhere.

I was shocked at the price of some XTR parts I ordered recently. Seems like a 30% cost increase since Spring. Parts are so expensive I don't know how people are going to afford them anymore.

Not that I'm aware of; I'm just stating a fact, though - CRC gave me a great price, and speedy (free) shipping - I live in Maine, and I got the stuff in a week or less.

CRC get a lot of abuse for selling stuff too cheap and putting bike shops out of business. Apparently a lot of companies won't supply CRC any more as to do so they'd lose all of their bike shop trade as the shops see no point in trying to compete anymore.

Also CRC NORMALLY is very very quick (almost always next day for me - they very cleverly built their new warehouse next door to the post sorting office :D). But occasionally they're not, and it can take a week or more for an order to get processed for no apparent reason. And when this happens it's very hard to try to get them on the phone. I think they grew too quick basically, hopefully things are on the mend now.

Also be aware that pretty much anything you buy from CRC will be OEM (i.e. a shimano mech will be delivered in a greasy plastic bag, not a nice shimano box, etc etc). I personally don't have a problem with this, but I have heard rumours in the past that shimano (and other manufacturers) use lesser quality materials in some aspects of their OEM components compared to the retail ones?

Certainly Hope Bulb hubs back in the day were ti freehub bodies for retail, and steel for OEM. So I was told anyway.

hell, the prices in canada are insane! my buds and i stopped off at the legendary cove bike shop in BC last year and saw prices 30-50% higher than LBS prices here in California. I don't remember the specific numbers, but 66 forks were selling for ~$300-400 more than "back home" and those were the sales prices there.

Pretty much EVERYWHERE but the U.S. is more expensive (except CRC on some things I've order from them occassionally). When I lived in New Zealand everything was like 30-50% more expensive too. Thats what you get for big gov't and huge trade barriers :'(

Weird. The XT cranks I got from CRC for CHEAP were in regular retail packaging. Again, I'm not defending them or claiming to know anything about their business practices - just stating honest facts from my experiences with them.

BTW, in my experience in the industry, it's pretty rare that OEM components are of lesser quality than retail, unless it's a specific "OEM-Only" product that has been designed differently to meet a lower price point.

Well my Hone cranks certainly came in a bag and plain cardboard padding. As is the case for most things I've bought from them.

I just got a new Saint mech, a cassette and a chain (all Shimano) from CRC and it was all properly packaged, with instructions etc.

For us here in Aus, CRC is a godsend. It has literally halved the price of a lot of stuff for the average punter, and even bike shop employees (such as myself) have been known to order stuff off there because it's cheaper than the local distributor. They also have a phenomenal range of stuff if you're after smaller parts, like drivetrain stuff, brakes, wheels, tyres, cockpit etc, though I wouldn't necessarily go buying suspension parts from them, nor frames (partly because they're two things that really do deserve a warranty). Also they don't stock much in the way of suspension spares (fork seals etc) which is a little annoying but whatever.

I love ordering from CRC. Free shipping and it shows up in like 4 days if you live on the East Coast. Most US mailorder places require me shelling out $$ for 2nd day air or waiting a week or more for stuff to arrive.

Shimano's minimum retail pricing is $275 USD per brake. Sure places are going to sell them for less but that is minimum retail pricing not MSRP. Even at cost they're up there in price.
