Listening to Gov Palin's interview with Charlie Gibson, she stated that her interpretation of the the Bush doctrine was that we, the US, have the right defend against and perform preemptive strikes against, Islamic or other religious extremists that mean us harm or disagree with our country's values and standards. (not exact quotes)

If that's the case, then couldn't one make the case for waging war against radical Baptist? Or those sects of religions that refuse to submit to medical care for their children, when our country's values clearly support protecting children. What about those Amish that flaunt our commerce and energy systems?

She also couldn't answer with an intelligent response, the question posed by Gibson concerning whether we have the right to launch strikes into Pakistan from Afghanistan. She spoke about 100 words without answer other than to say basically we "have to do whatever it takes to catch Islamic extremist"

Hint, right answer is no, unless we have a SOFA with Pakistan to establish reciprocal jurisdiction.

I have no idea where I am
This woman burns my ass more than a raw habanero dipped in battery acid.

What happened to the concepts of separation of church and state, and freedom of religion ?

Who the hell does this bitch think she is ?

Her saying that the war on Iraq is God's will is no different from Al-Quida saying that terrorists acts are the will of Allah. The last Iraqi death toll that I saw was over 560,000. You cannot convince me that they were all terrorists. Palin is advocating genocide in the name of God. What right does she have to say who lives or dies ? She is a prime example of the problems I have with the religious right. They feel justified in killing anyone who is not Christian, i.e., just like them. These backward ass judgmental fuvcktards will commit unspeakable acts, acts that their own faith says is a violation of their rules(10 commandments), and then hide behind the church.

Muther Fvcking Hypocrites!!!!

I mean, I understand that most, if not all wars have been started or joined based on some input or at the behest of some religion. This is why I find the notion of a loving, omnipotent God such a hilarious paradox. "I'll make these little creatures, tell them to love each other as brothers and sisters, then ingrain them with the notion to kill anyone who dares to challenge this notion."

I served with great pride and deployed more than once to several situations on the orders of my commanders, not God. God did not call me to serve, my personal beliefs and desire to be in the military called me.

This is as logical and as intellectually mature as football or other sports team praying for God to be with them on the field of play and bring them a victory..

But you fought for murika. So at least you had the knowledge that you were in the service of the one true god. Surely that provided some solace.

What drives me so insane is that so much of our recent, ahem....situations...... are initiated with absolutely zero religious consideration truth be told (and at least that's some good). However......by throwing the idea out there that we are somehow on gawd's side, what we are doing is justified and righteous "Gawd told me to invade Iraq" kind of bs. This gets joe dipshlt in middle america all behind it.

When mccain has an aneurysm over some reporter asking him about health care in a few years and commander palin takes charge of two (now possibly 3) wars she doesn't understand, this kind of nonsense is going increase exponentially.

Just think, 50 + years ago the middle east loved the U.S. to death because we were the only superpower who had not imposed itself on them.

Well, that's basically every religion.

Hell, the Catholic church sodomizes little children for fun and profit and gets away with it. Killing a bunch of mud people is small change...

Damn, she said respect and not regard?

That's what I get for posting drunk and not checking sources. In my defense, I didn't want to throw a brick through my monitor watching that again.

Regard, respect, whatever (current republicans don't know the difference either....or the definition). The giggly bowling balls were for her, not you.
I know. I'm a stickler for detail though...I'm disappointed in myself.

edit: You didn't think your hurt my feelings did you? That's cute...:D

Just letting you know my standards are low.

This is the 2nd best person the republican party can put forth?
Depends on your definition of best. As a leader, hell no. As someone who can pander to the recently energized vagina vote, as someone who holds a place as a white trash dip**** who is untouchable for criticism on anything that matters (don't be sexist, don't judge the daughter, why don't you want a woman president, back off she's a good christian hard working mom, how dare you attack her family) all the while detracting from actual issues.....hell yes. She's perfect.

I mean hell, grandpa and posse are making shlt up to appear victims to the heartless democrat's wrath.

That stupid pig couldn't negotiate her way out of a wet paper bag, but that's not why she's been chosen.

Palin sez said:
"If you go back in history and if you ask that question of many vice presidents, they may have the same answer that I just gave you."
This was in reference to a statement she said that she had never met a head of state.

I did a quick check:

Dick Cheney - Secretary of Defense
Al Gore - House Intelligence Committee & Armed Services Committee
Dan Quayle - Who cares
George H. Bush - UN Ambassador, Envoy to China

Without direct confirmation, it looks like the last 25 years, every qualified VP had plenty of exposure to foreign relations, and most likely met one head of state.

if demonstrated to be a threat to nat'l security & approved by congress, yes.

she didn't say this, therefore i don't agree.

how is what she's saying NOT reminiscent of a crusade
it's reminiscent only wrt there was an ongoing military conflict between muslims & chrisitians (actually catholics, which i'll allow for lumping in for now). it stops short once you see the crusades was in response to muslim aggression

another oft-echoed meme. as students of military history we should realize that religion is rarely the cause of war, and is conveniently irrelevant when examining communist russia or hitler's conquest. should i put forth the ridiculous case that WWII or stalin's regime could have been thwarted if everyone were christian/muslim/sikh/buddhist?
Carlin was right when he said we had a monopoly on killing brown people.
who do you think kills most brown people? the u.s. (or even the western world), or other brown people? seriously.
I would love for Palin to bust out with "The Iraq". That would be the awesome.
she did give a shout-out to bush w/ "nukular" about 4 min in :shudder:

Hey $tinkems, here's some more content.

"And we've got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable,"
On russian/US relations experience
"they're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska ... from an island in Alaska."
Real whipper snapper we got here.

Hey $tinkems, here's some more content.
my understanding is that russia wasn't provoked, as georgia went into south ossetia - a widely recognized (by the UN, EU, & NATO) part of georgia - in response to attacks from within, likely russian supporting separatists.

i also believe this is the widely held position by our gov't, most notably, the state dept

WTF dude ? Do you have selective hearing or something ?

She said it, more than once. Charlie Gibson called her out on it. Watch the interview again and/or read the transcript.
