I think my scales gave a wrong reading, I can only say it's under 40lbs in this pic.
65 head angle
14 1/8th BB
sub 17" stays
aprox 8" rear travel

Is it a home made frame or is Katipo a new small company ?

It also looks a lot better than your old DH bike
in the background.

Okay,
Yes it's steel.
Bike names don't bother me, a Katipo is a New Zealand spider.
My bathroom scales gave me a wrong reading(I don't know haw),several times. I'm fairly certain, my apologies to Bullcrew for debating it.I can only safely say it's under 40lb in the pics above.
Kowa's are the new 200sx, I've not got them dialled in as well as the 200SIs I had on it first, but I'm hopeful they'll be good.
I also want to get a 3" stroke shock for it. I was going to try air, but the bike's so light already, I think I'll try a DBarrel. It's currently running a 2.75 DHX that needs a service. It's riding nice on that.

How's the new Kowa working for you? Can you compare it to any other fork (ie. better/worse not in terms of similar work)

I'm struggling to get this new 200SX to get set up so it rides as high as the 200SI I had on before. The 200SX is air spring only, where the 200SI you can ad a lightly sprung(and weight)coil spring to get them to ramp up more and still run them soft enough for the small hits. The 200SX is currently for the Japanese market only though, It's still in developement stage. I thought I'd try it because I'm light.
I've not done enough runs on it though as yet, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get the damping to help control the ride height, or possibly ad a spring.
The 200SI is a great fork though, takes patients to set up, but once dialed it works great and is stupid light and stiff.
They're not the new 2010 Boxxer, but they are worthy of taking on what's currently available.
I work for the Kowa Australian distributor, take that as you will.

Looks great

Seat post area looks like it could do with a bit more beef, and the h/a looks a bit steep in the photo (may not be in real life).

Otherwise... sweet.

edit - I'm a numpty... it says 65 deg in the first post... that's well slack.

Is the bike to do with Rob Metz, Trevor Porter of James Dodz?
Nope.

man i cant wait for mine how do you like yours so far?You bet ya. So much fun, small, tight n light. Whats the reason behind swaping for the 3" stroke vs. the 2.75 im planning on using a vivid 5.1 on mine
Better tuneability, and I may try an air shock, so it wouldn't work quite as hard and therefore stay cooler and more consistent. 2.75 would be lighter though, really wouldn't be much in it.

any plans on producing that bike?
and shipping it to canada?
PM me and I'll help you order one now if you like.

hmm how about E-type front derailure?? would it work? i see the guide is rotated alot, would it be enough to allow for dual ring setup...and could the pulley be modified to work or would that be difficult..

i suppose there is always the hammerschmidt

Okay,
I'd bet my house it's under 37lbs easy.
So where do I have my mail transfered too! :D
Not bagging (OK kind of) weigh it with pics on a shop scale. My jedi is 36.8 with kenda single plys and my frame is lighter than that and 38.9 with dh casings, 6.1 hoops and I9 wheels . I run an air shock as well so the difference between yout fork and mine is minimal.

Dont get me wroNg that bike is SICK!
Whats the $ cost on the frame?

Not bagging (OK kind of) weigh it with pics on a shop scale. It's cool, I know the drill, but I'm 36, I don't give a ****, I have no care or need to lie. My jedi is 36.8 with kenda single plys and my frame is lighter than that and 38.9 with dh casings, 6.1 hoops and I9 wheelsMy wheels are probably a fair bit lighter.. I run an air shock as wellwhat is it, 200g saving from Ti spring to air? so the difference between yout fork and mine is minimal.did you mean air shock or fork? My Kowas are fairly light, close to Boxxer WC

Dont get me wroNg that bike is SICK!

Here's the spec list.
You work it out if it troubles you.
I may be wrong, but I can't see how, I've weighed it several times on the dunny scales.
I'll weight it at a shop if I get the chance, but I doubt I'll be packing a camera at the time, and if I cared, I could rig the pic anyway. If I'm wrong I will admit it, but I'll sell my house first:biggrin:

I still havn't chopped the seat post down, and I'm going to chop the seat mast down a tad too, also possibly going to try an air shock.
What's better
DHX air
Roco WC air?
What blasts through the mid stroke less?

the manitou evolver ISX6 is probably the best air shock.
I run one on a cannondale gemini DH and use it for DH.
I just rode mine a whole season without a service and its been flawless, adjustments are effective (HSC, LSC, Rebound, bottom out) you can run lots of LSC without it feeling harsh.
I have not ridden a roco WC air, they are supposed to be pretty decent.

LMAO! Still not 37lbs!
As far as air shocks the roco wc air has it at this point the fox has the mid stroke problem. 07 roco wc airs had some seal issues that were corrected for 08 and the 09s just got some different coloring and carbon bits on them.
That frame is slick Id like to see some action pics as well as a review.

I can't believe I just wasted time doing this

You do multiply KG by 2.2 to get LBs I hope:o:
These scales are far from accurate, but it could go either way.

I'll second that, used on on my glory for the past 7 months and it was a blast, worked super well and the adjustments were pretty rad. I'd recommend.

You'll be able to drop a good bit more weight and get a proper bash that can handle some good ol' rock thrashin come January. The 09 stuff is just amazing. :pirate2:

Other than that, frame looks great!

Also, with that XW backplate on there you could turn it to a current-gen LG1...increased bash protection, but you might add some weight.

I mashed up my rear wheel trying to break our 40T proto Turbocharger bash...flat spotted my Mavic 729 and pinched...bleh. :nopity:

Dropped it down to under 37.51lbs now(according to local bike shop scales).
Chopped seat mast down.
Removed seat post shim.
Changed seat post(new Kore coming, will hopefully be lighter still).
Rocco Air shock:confused:
and added some weight by having to put some Stans in the rear to fix a leak, and that seat's not as light as my other one, and she's wearing more dirt than before.
May have added or removed some oil from the forks also when I changed the wt.
I now it looks bad, like a touched up black and white photo for an advertisement. But I got the shock for half the price of a DHX, so I had to try it.
