I agree with you 100% - Diablo trail crew did an awesome job this year with the trails. I'm just giving my thoughts on what I'd like to see at Diablo. If you haven't been to Highland (forget about what you read or heard), then YOU as a rider can't say much about it. It's both a DH and freeride park and can absolutely do more than 10 runs - maybe you can't (nothing personal), but it can be done.

I'm not here to dis-respect any of my fellow riders whatsoever - if any of you took it that way, I apologize (unless you're DEST). I just want more from Diablo

u better apologize to me also...
I agree with hesh to steel highland is not the best park on the east coast, diablo is the best all around park on the east coast. I've been to highland its a great park dont get me wrong but, more freeride than anything it is fun though...
and what do you mean by keep the race course open ride for fun.. you are aware there are many different courses be a bit more specific when u say things..

besides that how many times did u make it to highland this year NONE....

if they didnt make one improvment this off season, i wouldnt care. everyone is so ungrateful for the kick ass terrain we have right here available to ride. everyone acts like if its not whislter then it sucks. ive ridden diablo for two years now and i still havent ridden every trail. all im saying is diablo is awesome and we should be praising the trail crew for their work, not ridiculing them cause they didnt build enough. i feel they have done a fantastic job catering to dhers, freeriders, and beginners.

sorry DEST - you really opened my eyes up (not like Hesh to Steel) - i take everything back what i said. Diablo is the best - - that's why i didn't go to Highland park. I just couldn't get enough of Diablo. and diablo is not strictly a DH park - if it were, it wouldn't have the drop off's and other jumping sh.t.

And about the race course - it should be open for all the DH's that can't do the drops/jumps - I mean, Diablo gotta keep them happy too, right? I mean quote on quote, I've seen alot of guys PUNK out on the Deck drop, so why even bother having it there - tear that deck down (just kidding).

But seriously, Diablo is a great park - both DH and the little FR things they do have. I'm glad they are there for another 4 years - however, i would like to see some more flowy trails (a mix of everything) in the years to come

Like I said - Everyone at Diablo did an awesome job this season - bringing and building good sh.t. I actually enjoyed Diablo this year amongst any other. I just wish I rode as good as many of you that I saw this summer - like Dest. that's my goal for this year - Be like Dest - the best

my 2 cents: I'm more of a high speed old school dh rider, so I'd love to see more of that, but I also have gotten way better at jumps and drops because I have those trail options. IMHO, Diablo is great and adding a lot each season. If they keep doing what they've done the last few seasons, just imagine the sick network of trails we'll have to ride! I'm not complaining about a few minor details---just think of how sh**tty it would be if we HAD NO CHOICE but to drive to Plattekille or Highland every weekend?---no matter how good they are.

We still don't know which race course you're talking about. Just about every race at diablo is on a course composed of trails that can be ridden anytime, with the exception of the US Open (where most of the course was still made up of regular trails) and the Jeep 48Straight event (DS course had to be taken down immediately after for various reasons).

All the domination races are on the regular trails.

Also, nobody said Diablo was all DH. It's clearly a mix of DH and FR.

We have 6 DH trails out of 9 trails. Dont tell us there isn't any technical DH at Highland.

The upper part of the US Open course (BMW) is closed all year (at least it has been for the last 2 years), only a small part of it that leads to Stigmata is open.

Where in my post did i say there are no dh trails at highland i only said that it is mostly a fr park and thats not a bad thing. I only said that Diablo is the best all around park in the east coast and that is my opinion. so get ur sh#t straight... I actully like highland and take the time to drive from NYC to get there. i'm stilled bummed i didnt get to use my free pass that i had because it rained on the 15 last day and i didnt go....

they just haters Dest - everyone voices their opinions. Can't make no one happy cause everyone think they a pro rider and know what they always talking about - like on this post right here. No matter what you say or try to say, every one of these guys above is taking **** to heart (they probably just sandbaggers).

I have an orange V-10 and would be more than happy to show anyone how to ride those trails next season if you can't comprehend what I just wrote in this post

I couldn't agree more. My suggestion would be cool but it wasn't even too serious. I just wish Diablo was still opened haha

all i have to say is, people that ride diablo 6 times a year can not complain about being bored or the trails getting old. why not just step up the speed and hit the trails faster and harder? i could care less if i rode the same trail all day, i would just dial in the trail untill i hit it as fast as i can and get scared. lol

but seriously diablo has done a great job and if all you guys want this sick and gnarly stuff step up and give the trail crew a hand. its hard work out there on the mountain. i give it up to them being on that mountain all day and into the night sometimes doing 12-14 hours worth a work in a day, LABOR work needless to say.

so whatever diablo brings next year will be rad and ill be stoked to ride it.

Sorry but I know my ****, Im to Highland as Travis is to Diablo. You said we were more freeride oriented, but were not. And the general consensus is that there is more of a freeride scene, yes,m but we still have more DH than freeride.

That's what's up.

This was my first season riding at diablo and it never got boring. It was pretty much the thing I looked forward to the most any given week.

Between working up the balls to hit that section that was a little above my skill level to trying to get faster and smoother through the sections I'd ridden a bunch of times, there was more than enough material to keep me stoked the whole summer. And consequently bummed the whole winter since I can't ride there.

That's not a good thing, Travis is a dumbass.
haha...i hate this thread. Why dont people ride other things than diablo. Its like everybody wants diablo to be this and that when plattekill is only 2 hours away for those that have the time. Or you could go to highland, or maybe even pick up XC for the winter and ride other trails. Diablo is what it is and you should be happy that its there. But people ride there so much that you start to memorize the whole trails and every little detail of it. Diablo is not going to change just for one person. They will do what they want and if you dont like then dont ride. Make your own trails.

I like Diablo a lot. I ride there more or less every weekend in the summer. However I can think of lots of things at highland that Diablo can't even touch. Massive slope style course, a dirt half pipe, big step ups, ***NE STYLE***. If Diablo were to put in some features that they don't already have, or some scarier stuff, I'd be all about it. I love the the features they put in this past year because there was nothing like them there before, if they keep diversifying their stunts it'll just get better and better. Adding more of the same won't really really increase the "fun factor" as much as something completely new. Like I said previously, some stuff you really need to commit to is what I'd like to see. Something to separate the men from the boys.

Edit:

"You need to diversify yo stunts n****...."

Diablo is the best place to ride in the general area and the crew they have is certainly not the problem. I don't think they could do much more. Having said that, I am board of riding there. I have been riding almost every weekend since they reopened as Diablo 5 or 6 years ago. I ride all the trails up there and I cant find one to get excited about anymore.

The last time I was excited about something new was road to nowhere. And while there were some new trails these past few season they have come at the cost of some other cool trails like Morning Wood and the trail that used to lead into. My point is that you people cant just dismiss people saying they are board and looking for something new and challenging. I went from riding at Diablo every weekend to every other weekend to skipping out the whole last 2 months to ride at PKill and some XC for something different.

Im just hoping that one day that Diablo will be busy enough that they have to explore some more space towards South where plently of natural drops are visible everywhere and give me a reason to have 9" of travel. At the rate things have been going I have been considering selling my downhill bike to get a low travel (or hard tail) with a single crown so I could start enjoying these smooth runs like tempest, dominion, greenhorn and indyx but that's not what gets me excited.

It was such a great season, why are some of you bitching about how bored you were.
Because this is a forum and you're allowed to let people know your thoughts. If Diablo filters through the ignorant posts and looks at what some of the more intelligent people have to say about possible improvements and what they'd like to see, then I'm sure the park will just get better and better.

I understand that and completely agree with you. But comments like

are more of a slap in the face then a post that is actually helpful.

Agreed. If you can't get excited about big jumps, regardless of how many times you've hit them...then I'm afraid there's just no pleasing you lol.
