Sorry but I know my ****, Im to Highland as Travis is to Diablo. You said we were more freeride oriented, but were not. And the general consensus is that there is more of a freeride scene, yes,m but we still have more DH than freeride.
Are you $hittin me? More DH oriented? I'd say maybe 2 out of the what, 5 trails and 3 jump areas, are more dh oriented. Its a fun place, absolutely, just not a downhillers paradise by any means. Personally I'd much rather take the 3 1/2 hour drive to Diablo than the 1 1/2 hour drive to Highland any day.

Say what?
Threshold, Maiden Voyage, Fancy Feast, and Hemlock are some sick downhill runs. Threshold is so much fun to go all out on.

Oh really. How long did that put you out for? any surgeries??? Next time you shouldn't just huck it like that.
Yeah I was out for the season. I went to the doctor, and he diagnosed me with some hydrogen peroxide and a band aid. The pain was unbearable. Next season I plan on learning the lines more better.

Thanks. Schwa, why the hell wouldn't you go to a place thats 2 hours closer, and is COMPLETLY dedicated to biking?

I understand that and completely agree with you. But comments like are more of a slap in the face then a post that is actually helpful.
I think since I have been a loyal visitor to Diablo since they have opened and I have spent probably close to $10,000 at Diablo in season passes, food, parts, gear, t-shirts, bike fixes and parking I have the right to voice my opinion just like everyone else.

The simple fact is that all new stuff seems a bit on the easy level and thats great to get some beginners involved and it worked. I have seen tons of new riders there this year. On the other hand, what I'm looking for are those hits where you have to man up and go big and as I said, I haven't seen that since Road to Nowhere. Or at least some steep rocky trails with natural drops would be nice which is the reason I got into downhill/free-ride. Come talk to me after you have ridden there 150+ times and tell me your not looking for the difficulty level to increase.

Besides my criticisms I think I was pretty careful to point out that Diablo is the best place in the area and that the trail crew is doing a good job.

Big jumps are a lot of fun. That step up isn't all that big, but it is bigger than a lot of the things there, and I never get tired of it no matter how many times I hit it. That is why I would like more big jumps, because that one never gets old, and if there are more jumps of that size, it would just make it more fun. Imagine several jumps that big in a row :drool::drool:

And I know there is the arguement that they are not begginer friendly... But there are a lot of things for begginers to learn on. Also, someone said the trails don't get boring if you just nail them faster and faster every run and get them dialed, which is true to an extent, but there are different kinds of riders, and I would rather nail a big jump than shred through a rock garden to be honest.

I too am a loyal visitor. My parents dragged my ass there almost everyday last summer...

I agree with what your saying but its best that people just keep their mouthes shut. It costs Diablo a lot of money to put up these "stunts" and they do an awesome job for a trail crew of like 4 guys.

I am sure we'll see some awesome features next season.

Why doesn't anyone complain about the hours their open? All of us that drive a long way to make it there just to race our runs in. Am I the only one that feels that there hours are a weekend warrior unfriendly. (7pm during the week and 4pm on the weekends)
4pm weekdays and 7pm weekends would have to make more money for Diablo with less operation hours. If your lucky enough to live close enough to ride during the week you probably already have a season pass, and spend no cash.

Though it was somewhat obvious that the Diablo crew sort of 'ran out of steam' in the tail end of this season, there is little argument that they hit the ground running in the preseason and opening couple months. There were a lot of little things around the mountain that I am confident were a result of the "Diablo Wish List for 2008" thread that ran on and on and on last winter.

Point being, this thread is filled with garbage, and a couple outlandish ideas, but Diablo_Freeride does read this forum– heck, they were the ones who got their own section on RM— and when a good idea pops up and is well supported by the community here, I am sure it is taken into consideration over the winter.

If someone has a thought or idea about what would want them to keep coming back every week after 2, 3, 4 or more years of season pass holding, by all means speak your mind. The beginner trails and stunts are great, but spend any day at the park and most people you see on the mountain are regulars or season pass holders. Lose the interest of this group, and you've lost the park.

Well Put SpyLab
I am a dedicated season pass holder for 2 years now and would make it to diablo a lot more if they would stay open later on the weekends. Not to mention spend more money there on food, drink and parts. But the way it is, if my bike breaks down at 2/3 pm My days over. If Diablo's open to 7 I would buy parts there to fix it and keep riding. I and friends I ride with are all coming from Philadelphia which is about a 3 hour trip one way. So the 6 plus hours of driving which I do just about every weekend is getting old especially if you have my luck with time consuming mid day bike repairs.
I would do anything to be able to ride til 7 and have a satisfying day rather then a rushed one. And Please Sell Beer/Food All Season Next Year. Much needed after a long trip and day of DH.
Thats the only complaint you will ever hear from me and my crew. especially being our only place to ride DH on a day trip.

Not to beat a dead horse here but are you kidding me? Have you ever heard of the saying "the squeaky wheel gets the grease"? Just in case you didn't, it means that those who speak up get attention. If enough people shared the same opinions then Diablo would do something. I'm not here to whine because Diablo is not perfect for me. Im clearly telling Diablo what they need to do to keep a long time customer interested in coming back. If my interests are not a majority then so be it, Ill take up hang gliding or spend more time traveling and that's cool with me too.

It costs Diablo a lot of money to put up these "stunts" and they do an awesome job for a trail crew of like 4 guys.
Rather than explaining this one for the third time, just go back and read my last 2 posts. Or even better, here you go:

"Diablo is the best place in the area and that the trail crew is doing a good job"
"crew they have is certainly not the problem. I don't think they could do much more"
I'm done explaining myself here. Ill see you on the mountain in the spring. Until then, good luck getting everyone to shut up in a public forum. :thumb:

well chris, i was there and all you did was kept casing the tip of it. Well that one time when you got it was sweet. But do you remember that time i did a 180 off the first salvation kicker and rolled back all the way to the second kicker then i did a half cab barspin off that kicker and did a seat stand manual down the rest of the mountain.
