i want to make my curtis more commute friendly and feel that gears would help with this. gonna get some thinner tires that go up to a decent psi too.

is there a derailleur that works with horizontal dropouts?

theres no routing for the cable on my frame, zip tying it there would work wouldnt it?

if not ill probably be selling it.

Shimano made a horizontal dropout derailier (Saint) but you either need the Saint hub or the Problem Solver through axle because the derailier bolts directly to the axle. You can find both the der. and axle at jensonusa.com. Make sure the axle will fit your hub first if you're going that rout.

You might be able to adapt a cheap nbike derailleur hanger, which is part of the cheap derailleur to work. I assume really cheap Wallmart specials still use this type of extra crappy setup. Also, I am not positive but I think if you convert a single speed to geared....you go to hell.

On-One used to offer a chain-tug/hanger. Their site still hosts an image, but I can't find it in their product pages.

There's also this one from DMR

The Shimano "Tourney" line of components has an integrated hanger. It's a pretty low-end piece, but it may hold up to commuting.
