Hey All,

A group of us from FL are coming up for a week of riding the 20th-26th or so. We are staying at my Dad's in Hendersonville but are going to take a trip up to Wilson's for a day because we have never ridden there.

I have found some GPS tracks for Headley, Raspberry, Greentown and Beehive so we are probably just going to do those since we will only have one day. I haven't tried laoding them up to the GPS yet but whatever. Are there any other recomendations/ advice for this area? Are all of those shuttleable (I know there is a climb to beehive from greentown, saw that on the gps track)? All of us are on 6" bikes, 2 Coilers 1 Banshee Rune. We have full DH gear and are looking for steep gnarlies.

The main thing I've read about Wilson's is the trails are awesome but not very well marked.

There's actually a National Geographic trail map for that area (Pisgah Forest - Grandfather Mountain District), and it's pretty detailed. That said, few of the trails are well marked, so just have that map handy.

Where are you coming from in Florida? I'm from West Palm and might be in the area. It would be good to ride with some others. Also, where can you get one of those maps local, Ranger Station?

I have no idea where I am
Raspberry to Greentown to Beehive is an awesome ride.

Hope you like to climb.

You can get both maps of the area at a camping/hiking store. But they will do you little good as two of those trails are not on the map.

I strongly recommend going with someone who knows the area for your first time there. Getting lost out there would be no fun, to say the least.

If I get to make the trip I'll definitly be in touch with Swanson or Basher. I think I remember Raspberry, Ripshon, and Headley. But I haven't ridden GreenTown or Beehive.

They sell those maps all over the place, pretty much any outdoors store. Let us know if you want to ride. We will mostly be doing the Brevard area stuff but venturing to new trails a couple of days.

I figure that if we can get some GPS tracks loaded onto our GPS we should be OK.

Better have swanny draw you a map or better yet go with him. Nothing is marked and it is easy to take a wrong turn out there or completely miss a turn. I'd be happy to show you around if I have the day off when your here.
Thanks, Jonny. If I make this trip I'll be at Windrock on Sunday, then back in Georgia for the rest of the week (free to ride anywhere). That will be my home base. If I do head north I'll call swanny and get your #. He gave it to me a while back but never used it. Thanks, Later.

I'll let you know if I head north. Brevard sounds good also. If you go through Greenville, SC. you should go to Paris MT All a round excellent trails and a fun DH run with a short shuttle.

I don't know the place like swanny does, but if you make it up this way let me know. Have fun at the rock!!

We ended up just going out there with some semi decent directions and maps. It took us a while to figure out where the top of Headley's was then we shuttled it 3 or 4 times. We met some locals at the bottom who offered to show us to the top of beehive and we rode that once before it got dark. Those trails rip! I could only imagine how much faster beehive would be without a foot of leaves on it too! Definitely backcountry there!

It's hard to see all the holes under the leaves.
