My own world inside my head
Ok, I just caught up on the thread again.

Two last thing I want to say. FIrst off, its all about the serial number. Sounds to me, the fork was originally built as an early release 06, meaning the Serial number listed that the fork was origianl assembled in 05. So there is where teh confusion is probabnly coming from with Rockshox. Sorry bro, I hate to say, looks like the guy who sold you the fork lied about what year it was, or he was misinformed when he bought it as well. Two very hi possibility's.

Second part I want to add. I have seen this many times form all the Manf.'s "send it in, we will take care of it." But they never say it will be free until its in there hands. thats jnust how it goes. The best way I have found to get warranty on forks/rear shocks, Is to go to a bike shop that can do it IN HOUSE. I get ALOT more warranty options due to this where we are at. GOt an 08 Marz with bad bushings? We let Marz know we can do it, yeah ther bad, they send us lowers. We cant, we send it in, they decide there. Boxxer with a bad valve assembly? We can do it in house, our opinion goes a long ways in warranty when they can shipo the parts out and have us take care of it!!!!!

Try that next time. May get better results

Yeah, theres a chance that a guy at RockShox made a mistake. But what do you think is more likely to happen, a guy that WORKS AT THE COMPANY IN WARRANTY doesn't know what year a product is, or a bunch of interwebbe geniuses solved the case based on a photo they saw?

That said, the e-engineers here are never ever wrong, and have shown time and time again how dumb the bike industry is, and how they could make it so perfect...

I'd say theres gotta be some reason buddy at RS said it was an 05, I'm just giving the benefit of the doubt.

Either way, its out of warranty, and you need to pay for new lowers, bushings, probably seals, and a rebuild. :)
You either don't know a thing about Boxxers, or you simply can't hack being wrong. Based on your post history, I'd say both. Having a go at the people who have pointed out that it's clearly an 06+ with "e-engineers here are never ever wrong" is pretty funny when it's clearly YOU who has NFI what you're on about. Stop posting, you contribute nothing. Warranty people mess up details all the time, it happens, build a bridge.

^^^ Agree, some people don't read and like an argument.

I would contact rock shox again and ask on what basis they have determined it to be an '05. Let us know what they say.

Uhm, isnt date of purchase more important then the manufacturing date.
You have 2 years warranty beginning at the date of purchase. But it doesn't matter because the fork was purchased second hand.

it is possible for that fork to be 05.
I have a set of 05 worldcups ,dumped the compression leg ,got a motion control kit and new lowers ,now ive got black 08 teams with silver stanchions. very possible the fork is a rebuild and is a 05.

eitherway your the 2nd owner ,you aint gunna get warranty.

yes, yes it is absolutely possible that the previous owner of the fork had an '05 model year Boxxer Team and then replaced the upper and lower crowns, spring and compression internals, lower legs, and axle leaving just the '05 stanchion tubes from the original fork. yeah, you might really be on to something here :banghead:

RULE #1. YOU ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER -> NO WARRANTY.

so don't send it in expecting to get something for free.

also, the 06 fork became available to the market late august/early September of '05, so without an original receipt proving a purchase date, this fork very easily could have been purchased outside of the warranty period. the code stamped on the crowns will tell RS which batch the fork was made in, so if it was an early batch, then it was very very likely sold in '05, since they sold out pretty quick.

Well rockshox wouldn't talk directly to me only through the shop thats handling this. So I told the shop everything the RM detectives found and they agreed that it was indeed not an 05 but an 06+fork. So they called rockshox and before even saying anything Rockshox said that they had reduced the cost from $300 to $150 for new uppers, lowers, and a rebuild which is an incredible deal especially after they deemed the damage an impact crack which meant they didnt owe me anything. So the subject was never breached to avoid causing an uneccesary fuss as it makes no difference, it was just for personal satisfaction I wanted to know. But I know its at least an 06. Pretty much an 09 now :)
