Yeti AS-X vs Transition Covert

Currently looking at selling my Yeti AS-X w/ Z1 FR1 150mm. Weighs in at around at 36-38 lbs, and where I'm at right now, it's pretty much overkill. Looking for a setup that is lighter, and more "flat" terrain friendly, but can still soak up the terrain as well as the ASX does.

I'm looking at the Transition Covert. Seems like a close match. Head angle is just a hair steeper than the ASX, so that should help the handling, but what about the weight? How much does a small weigh?

Anyone with experience with both? What's been your experience?

I would stick with the ASX... Here's a pic of my buddies... i think it was like 32lbs... Getting the weight that low without going stupid XC build is indeed possible...

Bruce, I used to live in SA and I would look at the Morewood Shova ST. Its a 5" bike with DHer angles and can rip it up. If you want more travel look at the Morewood Mbuzi. I think both would kill what SA has to offer.

One of my friends has a Covert and loves it. He rides it on XC trails, light DH runs and he's super fast on it. His is around 31 pounds with a Rock Shox Lyric up front and a Rock Shox Pearl in the back.

I'd say go for the Covert if you want a bike that can do it all.
