I want to come race DS on the new bike badly. I miss racing on good DS tracks and this one sounds like a lot of fun. As for me I am 50/50 right now due to my Wife still can't pick my son up after her surgery. I want to help suporrt our local South East races by showing up, but having a young child has really made it hard this year. Not saying I would trade my son for racing.... If we can find someone to help watch him I will be there. Hope so!!!!

As for the rain, I'm not letting that stop me. The rain makes it more fun!
normally i wouldnt' let it stop me either but rain + cast = bad news and i don't really want to have a plastic bag over my arm all weekend. besides, noah's skinny little butt freezes when it's dry and sub 40 degrees....that kid would be hypothermic in the wet.

From Raleigh/Research Triangle:
Take I-40 West to the intersection of I-40 and I-26 at Exit 46 after Asheville. Take I-26 East to Exit 40 (Asheville Airport). Turn right onto NC 280 toward the Airport and continue to Brevard (19.2 miles). Highway NC 280 will intersect at a stoplight with US 64 West and 276. Take US 64 West straight through the city of Brevard (around four miles). The Adventure Village is located 5.5 miles west of Brevard. Turn right off of 64-W onto Israel Road. You’ll immediately see The Adventure Village on your left.

rainy all weekend
pretty good turn out for the DS saturday, weather held out till the end
rained all saturday night into all of sunday, numbers for the DH dwindled
but it was still a blast of a weekend, and fun course, thanks to Chris for hosting it!

Last I heard there were actually 32 DH racers. I thought that was pretty good considering the weather was so freakin' awful. I got there too late to race so I took some pictures instead - I'll post 'em up in a few.

Wow, that race was wet! It was raining pretty much all the time. I didn't do well in the slalom but made up for it in the downhill.

Downhill top 5 results:
Chris Herndon
Charlie Mooney
Gerritt B.
Mike Thomas
Craig Folsom

Mooney won the slalom as well.

Good time.

The DS course with holy rollers and just a rear brake was quite fun and nearly impossible. Couldn't get myself up for anything more than a waltz down the DH track, but a fun time. Hope they do the race/fun ride again next year.

A few bad pics from the expert DH. Before FCLinder says anything, it was too cold and wet to switch my camera back to color.

Hey everyone, just wanted to thank you guys that braved the weather. I won't lie, it was miserable, but even with the bad weather I saw a lot of people that seemed to be having a good time. It was a good start for the first year and hopefully we can build on it for next year. Oh yeah, don't forget to thank Wes D, he had as much to do with it all as I did. Thanks again and let's hope for better weather next year.
