I know this probably doesn't belong in this forum, but getting the xc forum to respond is like getting a person to wake up from a coma.

So I got a specialized 08 epic pro frame off warrantee from an 03 xc expert complete bike. The specialized rep I talked to gave me pity for riding an Iron Horse.

I have a medium budget being as I need money for a Sweet new 09 dhr. Help me with a build!

I got an awesome semi-build kit for my existing DH bike off ebay as brand new take offs. I got wheels (with tires and tubes) and Hayes Stroker disc brakes, and a SRAM 9 speed cassette for $300.

For XC crap, you should be able to find a complete or mostly complete build kit on the cheap this time of year.

I'd go with something more or less like this. You'd save some cash going full LX or X.7. You can probably get better wheels and/or fork if you go used.

sell frame, buy a 29ss, grow a pair, ride it rigid.
Didn't you sell your bike(s) to help pay for a dirtbike aways back? And now you're attempting to tell someone to "grow a pair"? At least we now know your newly acquired grammar skills didn't push any of the stupidity out of your brain, possibly just any rational thinking ability.

What they said. Definintely check out ebay and the classifieds (here) as there are some great oem take-offs that you can buy quite inexpensively.

I'd wait to purchase anything until around Christmas and see what the online retailers do. If you believe all the media hype there should be some good deals. Other than that, Ebay has had some great deals as well
