Nice. For that price if you need to make a few upgrades (chain guide and new brakes) you can afford to do so standing on your head.

What a steal. Nice job.

I have to ask about this; "I made a small modification to the frame to allow an external BB / crank set. This modification is allowed and the frame is still under Santa Cruz's standard warranty."

What did the seller actually do to the frame??

dude that sucks hard. How do they lose something like that in transit? There's probably some dude in brown shorts and bad attitude riding your bike around right now. Shenanigans.

Good luck getting your cash back.

Towing the party line.
As long as it was insured UPS should be covering it. That, or it was a scam and nothing was ever sent?

That said, I have had UPS lose bikes on more than one occasion. They are big and bulky and need to be moved by hand, so more often than not they get put down in a corner and stay there until they put a trace out on it at the sorting center.

The free has a BB that only has room on the face for a ISIS type bottom bracket. Since the cups on external's are a lot larger there is a small raise that needs to be machined away to allow the cups to seat properly. A little more involved than facing the BB.
