Helmet for a pumpkinhead

I have been sporting probably one of the ugliest DH helmets known to man. An Azonic t-55 I have a pretty large head, probably around 64cm. I had not found anyone else making a non moto helmet that large. I bought 3 of these on close out a few years ago but due to heavy head slams and that fat guy sweat smell I really need a new helmet. Has anyone seen anything or know of anyone making a NON MOTO is larger than 62cm sizes. Once again I am fat and sweat like any old fat guy, need relitively light and with vents.

Also, same problem with shorts, anyone know of a co. making size 42 DH shorts??

specialized deviant helmets are big giro remedy is also big i have both and they are nice and big, at first they will feel snug but once u break them in it feels great....as far as shorts go ur kinda assed out unless you buy the zip off pants they are made in 42 troylee makes them and MSR and most moto companys but they are pricey but you get two for the price of one pants and shorts.....

I agree about the d2, the XXL is legit an XXL, to make it a normal XL you have to add foam pads inside. And its one of the only helmets that fits my head.

No. Simple and Plain, the TLD, and most MTB helms, are barely even XL. Sizing is not relative.

Opinion - sure - but pads are for tweaking fitment, not scaling between sizes.

Your head just isnt that big! :monkeydance:

wtf do you want? 2 people are telling you that the d2 helmet is bigger than any other avaible dh helmets on the market? my head has an admeasurement of 63cm, nothing big but my head is quite long so no other helmets fits me. there is no scale what xxl means, so if my head fits in and other helmets not its a xxl helmet. end of story.

XXL would mean Extra, Extra Large.

XL Vigor Vamoose is/was bigger, the above mentioned T55, and several more.

All labeled XL, and all smaller than any XXL Moto helmet.

Its moot, but I'm bored.

you really cant go by the l, xl, xxl, etc when it comes to sizing. The Troy lee wont fit me, alhough the shape fits my head good, as do most Giros, the size is only 62 cm. I need something 64cm but a 63 may fit with a bit of customizing. I have looked all over at many different helmets and it is almost imposibble to find any thing in the over 63 sizing. I have seen many moto helmets that will fit the bill, but heavy and hot is only a last resort option.

I did order a set of no fear pants with the zip off legs. They come in a 42 although i will probably need to ge the lengths of the legs altered as I am short in the thigh.

I sometimes wonder how many other non standard, meaning short, fat, and big headed guys there are out there? Is there possibly a market for these sizes?? o

Yeah, it sucks having a big head. I've been having this problem for years. Unfortunately, my head is too big for all the above mentioned mtb helmets and most moto helmet companies. I know you said you didn't want a moto helmet but if nothing pans out I've been running the GMax 46x. It is much lighter and better vented than other moto helmets I've run. It is only DOT rated so it probably doesn't give as much protection as other moto helmets. I can wear it without getting heat stroke, though. I found it on the internet but this isn't where I bought it. Good luck.

The Xl giro may work for you. I run a Large Remedy, and have about a 62cm dome. Giro is the only brand I have tried that I fit a large...

i'm a MAsshole!!!
helmets: I wear a xxl bern helmet and fits me perfect (they also make a xxxl helmet FYI). I do not fit in a xl/xxl TLD d2. I run an old specialized s2 helmet for road and xc and it fits. For a DH helemt i run a xxl 661 DOT helmet (forget the name but it's an 07) that fits once it's on with the cheek pads out.

I'm gonna look into a specialized deviant helmet for a putzing around helmet but wouldn't consider it for DH.

Shorts: I run Dickies cargo shorts for DH and oakley xxl shorts for xc/ road. I wear a 40x34 in Carhartt dungarees and they fit me perfect FYI. There's another small company that makes bike clothing that I've got to check out too but i forget the name. I think raceface made some mega-size stuff too but i'm not sure.

Now if only 5.10 would continue their sizing past 13..
