i have a dhx5 on the goose right now and remember seeing something about people running tuned VANr's. just curious if there would be a big performance gain if i were to swap for a van and get it pushed. funds dont really permit pushing the dhx at the moment.

thanks

I got my dhx PUSHed on my shocker a month ago or so...and I'd say it's the only place you could spend money that will actually make you faster. The grip over a standard dhx 5.0 is just unbelievable. Well worth the money.

If you have the money to swap for a Van. and PUSH it then why not save up a bit more and PUSH the DHX?

Sell the DHX = money, use money to buy Van R (cheaper)+ PUSH it.

He is asking whether a PUSHed DHX is better (and therefore worth the wait to save money to pay for the PUSH) than a PUSHed Van R.

I have no info to offer beyond this clarification.

where the trails are
I have two PUSH tuned Vanilla RC shocks.
The difference is night and day.

I'd have this cup of coffee in front of me PUSH'd if I could.

correct, sorry for no clarifying, i would sell the dhx and get a van and with the money i (hopefully) gain in the swap put towards getting it pushd. sounds like i might as well just save for the dhx push

just to play devil's advocate.... what exactly do you dislike, performance wise, with the dhx you are currently runnning?

is there a flaw you are going to ask push to have sorted for you, or are you simply sending it to them for the sake of sending it to them?

I am not trying to be rude, but what performance gain do you hope to achieve by sending for service without out a particular tuning request.

what do you expect push to send back? and what ride characteristics (that you did not like on the stock shock) will you be testing for improvement? You know that improvement you are shelling out a ton of money for.

I can't comment on our specific situation (PUSHed Vanr), but I will say that spending the $180 to PUSH my ROCO was easily the best performance upgrade I've done. Worth every penny.

I am going to get my DHX for my Sunday pushed but I have waited a long time to make sure I could give them enough feedback to make the custom tune worthwhile and because I have not been satisfied with a few things on the DHX. Also both rebuilds on my DHX from Fox the shock starts leaking right away more or less from new by the propedal adjuster. This causes the shock to perform worse and worse until its completely crap. I have only seen few Pushed shocks but they have held up better.

Kind of on the same topic... I ran a Fox DHX 5.0 this season on my Morewood Izimu and was thinking about getting it Pushed for next season. The question is get the DHX Pushed or sell it and buy a Vivid for less? Any info would help. Thanks.

IMHO I am a firm believer that for most people a non-platformed shock is always better than a platformed on. Get a Roco/Vivid or CCDB. I have a Pushed Roco WC and its awesome. VERY pleased with the gains over a custom tuned DHX5.

this is a good point. the stock shock worked very well, and after over a season of riding needs to be serviced anyway. getting a van over the dhx was simply a thought and most likely wont happen. i want to send it to push partly out of curiosity to see what performance i can gain. everybody so far is saying it was the best thing they did, so im curious to see what made it the best upgrade. ive messed around with the shock and have it about as close to how i expect it to feel, but if the difference is night and day with push like people say, i'd like to feel that. im keeping my bike for another season, so the list of things i want for my bike has decreased, and push is still on the list.

at the risk of sounding like a d*ck, i wonder if the people who experienced 'night & day' differences simply didn't understand how to set the shock up in the best possible way in the first place.

could my DHX have benefited from some custom tuning? sure, all shocks probably could. but i'd hesitate to believe anything too profound could be done to it.

to each his own i suppose.

i was having major trouble with my shock being majorly over damped. After the push treatment the bike was sitting into its travel much better while cornering and over rough successive medium hits the bike was much more stable. Before i had it running with as little comp damping as possible but that caused it to blow through its travel on big g outs. That was solved aswell. It turned my sunn radical from something i wasn't entirely happy with to one of the best bikes i've ridden. The fact that i was able to ride faster pretty much instantly was shown with my race results in what was left of this season.
