im a big time Tifosi, so i can never wait to the new cars get revealed.

i do think that the new aero of the cars is backwards thinking but should make competition more interesting and slicks are making a come back

Ferrari introduce their new car, the F60, this week and the others will follow soon;
http://f60.ferrariworld.com/

it should be interesting to see how KERS will actually perform on the track

The MP4-20 mclaren mercedes F1 a few years ago was still the sickest F1 car ever made. Gorgeous.

KERS sounds like video gaming fun but I thought F1 wanted to limit the spending to keep things fair.

Slicks are back FINALLY!

Back to KERS, I see a lot of flying carbon shards in 09 with drivers in-gauging the KERS system for the pass, then running out of stored power and BAM collision's.

And effh-u Trulli for giving up a position on the last lap of the last race with two driver's racing for a championship.

I'm done.

yeah, most teams have been complaining about cost cutting, but yet they have to use KERS to be competitive this year....a system that is a brand new design to racing. they have 8 engines for 17 races. i dont think the slicks are going to make any difference imo. its still a single tire brand series and the grooved tires proved to be just as fast as slicks.

and i agree, i hate him for giving it up on the last lap

NO! Take that video off, it hurt's too much. IT HURTS!

Trulli, I hope Schumacher gets a divorce and steals your girlfriend like he did to that other german driver that drove for eddie jordan whose name I cant remember.

What ever happened to that guy?

if i had a g/f id be honored for Schumacher to bang her....come on man, us tifosi have to laugh at the something as crazy as that...losing it on the last lap

yeah this years finish was incredible. I mean it cant get any closer or more exciting. Ill admit I am a lewis fan, but still what a way to close out a season.

I wish some of the decisions this year hadnt been made, but 2009 will be a great season. Hopefully the economy will pick up and Eccelon can get the 20 race season he wants. Including 2 North American stops. Anyone know what the official ruling on refuelling is?

There, I fixed that for you.

2 N.A. stops? Don't count on it. Yes there should be 2 stops on this continent, but isn't happening in '09.

i'm stoked for the new f1 season
No kidding! I don't follow things nearly as close as I did when behind the wheel (mostly kartling) but I still love following the F1 season. It would be a hard choice if I had to choose racing (karting or ff) vs mountain biking. Guess it's a good thing that mountain biking is much more affordable

Thanks for that. I know its not happening in 09 but its a bit ridiculous not having a stop on this continent.

bernie wants too much money and he doesnt think that the series can make money for itself in Canada or the US.
he thought that the night race would have been a big booster but it wasnt. Australia was originally cut out for '09, but thankfully is still there.

Word around the campfire is that Alonso heads to Ferrari for 2011.
there, fixed that for ya :brows:

yes, kimi will be purportedly gone

Forza Tifosi!!!!

Not even going to comment on the 09 cars, I will only say that if you have not already, DO NOT look at pics from the 08 season. I died a little inside when I did.

If only the rear wings on the '09 cars were allowed to be a little lower and little wider, they'd be some of the best looking race cars we've had in a while...much better than the aero-abortions we've had the last several years.

As far as cost cutting goes - if they want to cut costs, why dont they try keeping the rules/regulations stable for a couple of years. Any kind of radical rule change - KERS, 2 race engines, etc - is bound to be more expensive as teams have to either develop new technology or totaly rework existing stuff.

While I hated him when he was battling with MS, I'd love to see Alonso in red. I think he'd be a perfect fit there and would dominate.

i think the front wings look totally out of proportion from the rear wings..like you said, if the rear was wider, it would be great.

they are also trying to cut cost w/ the total amount of engines used for the season and in '10, they are going to a single engine supplier. teams that still want to use their own engine can, but they will be a bit detuned. also teams can still buy engines from other teams...I.E. Force India buying from Mercedes next year instead of Ferrari.
KERS will be and is expensive. and the teams that dont use it will stink this year

The number of engines is really trivial in cutting costs...the expense is in the R&D compared to manufacturing and materials. Going from 3.0L V-10's to 2.4L V-8's is expensive because you have to re-engineer everything, going from single race engines to 2 race engines is expensive because you have to re-engineer everything, going from single race transmissions to 4 race transmissions is expensive because you have to re-engineer everything - yes, you do realize some cost savings on the material and manufacturing end because you have to make as many, but it is minor compared to all the development costs. Whenever they make rules that radicially change things (which typically end up with slower cars), the teams who employ the best and brightest turn up the intensity to get back whatever was lost.

they thought moving into the 08 and 09 season would make the cars slower, but they wound up being just as fast. same when they went to the V8 from V10's. team will be able to use V10's for the 2010 season, but will be a detuned version.
they also cut the amount of wind tunnel testing and off season testing down dramatically to try and save money there.
i personally think spending stupid amounts of money is great for F1...i mean its the cutting edge of technology and the teams that could spend it, won.....but that usually wound up being McLaren or Ferrari....or Williams back in the day

I was at Interlagos for the race. It was Glock who got passed by Hamilton & Vettel, not Trulli. Piloting an F1 car without traction in the wet on dry tires must be all but impossible. It would have been all Timo could do to keep the car on the tarmac. He didn't hand Lewis the championship. It's racing.

I had thought that Glock handed to Lewis at first as well, but just look at the times and see how far back Glock finished (almost 6 seconds) to know that his tires were not up to task. Additionally, all drivers will do anything to get more points as they typically have bonuses worked into their contracts based on points scored and the teams have incentive as they get money based on team points scored.

Jacques Villeneuve can suck it...I hated that guy. He's the main reason I became a Schumacher toadie (and a Lewis fanatik as of late...)I liked Damon Hill (but no one will ever surpass Senna in my esteemed, biased opinion), then that turd-burghler came along and f*cked everything up. Gilles was a much better dude...hard charger, to the point, no messed up attitude like the little bitch sessions that Jacques put on....

I wasn't born until just before Gilles died...but as soon as I can remember (sometime in the late 80's) all I know is that I watched every F1, Moto GP, IndyCar, NASCAR, IMSA, etc. etc. etc. race there was...

And as I got older, I started watching all the 60's, 70's, and early 80's races (the ones I didn't remember...) that my dad had on tape...those were the weekends....woke up Saturda at 7am with dad...started watching the races live...and if there were two going on at the same time, we'd watch the tape of the ones we missed after the live ones were finished...

Monday mornings a sort of non-alcoholic hangover for me...well...until I could drink at least...

and speaking of KERS, i think its funny to see the McLaren crew using rubber gloves to push the car. i guess they learned from the BMW Sauber team
