Hey,

i was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on what i should do. Currently i have a Giant Canyon Limited (Black) full suspension, and i love the bike. but it has many faults to it at the moment, like no disc breaks, needs a new derailer and alot more. I was wondering if it would be smart of me just to buy a whole new bike, or just scrap everything on my bike and rebuild it with brand new parts except the frame.

Thanks

ok, yea i love the frame, but i think ive beaten it up, and a few bikes i was thinking of going with were the specialized enduro, the scott usa ransom or gambler, or the santa cruz v10

The enduro isn't DH worthy. It's as the name suggests, its an enduro bike. The ransom is the same, you dont want to do anything but light do on those bikes. The Gambler and the v10 are both great bikes although you will most likely get more votes for the v10 in this forum. I'd be equally happy with both.

Few questions?
Whats a Giant Canyon????
What and where do you ride?????
Whats your skill level?????
Do you race????
are you a beast, or a lightweight?

Its hard to recommend a bike without knowing a little background info.

cheers

-Giant canyon is the picture above, and its a full suspension.
-i ride alot of downhill and x-country, and i ride in jersey at local parks, but want to start going to mountain creek.
-id say my skill level is intermediate/expert, more for the x-country aspect . but for downhill its more beginner/intermediate.
-havent started racing but am very interested in starting

ahhhhhh its the same as the "warp"
going from that to a full on DH race bike might be overkill.

Something like a Reign X, SX-trail, SC Bullit might fit the bill for a novice DH'r. They'd be less $$$$ and much more versatile.

Ah a Warp.
Yep new bike time, if your doing any thing more then basic trails (like foot paths). I picked up an '08 Specialized Pitch Pro on blow out. For everything in between DH and BMX. Only been a few weeks, but the weather has been getting much better. I have logged about 10 hours on it now, packed snow single track, hiking and booting down easy hills, even did a bit of jumping on it. Aside from the wheel set looking very XC (building up a heaver set for abuse), its perfect. Another aggressive trail bike worth looking at, for your dollar is the Giant Reign series. The Reign X being lot more DH worthy, much like the Specialized SX Trail.

Unless your looking for a proper Freeride / DH rig...
