Royal is closing out some of last year's model race pants on their site that even has zippered lower legs to make it easier to work with your armor. From what I can tell, they seem to have phased out the zippers on their '09 product.

I usually use either Oneal Hardwear or Moose Sahara pants with 661 knee/shin (cheap moto ones with one strap) or Rockgardn LZ Shorty knee guards. There is definitely a difference in mobility between pants and shorts, but it's not too bad.

As a side note, I'd really recommend the Moose Sahara pants if you want to use them in hot/warm weather. The Rockgardns are also a good knee pad if you want a hard cap and good movement.

TLD GP Pants work fine with FOX knee/shin guards underneath, just slip down sometimes but not due to the pants... although later in the year started running no leg pads & I must say... the breeze felt nice, just taking a chance If I fall.

I would also recommend not wearing your DH pants on the moto, they don't have the same thermal protection and melt on the header pipe, vice versa is fine though..... to go off on a tangent.....

most of the top MFGs took this into account since lots of guys run more than just the generic moto knee pads.. & lots of riders run knee braces (as previously mentioned), BUT Definitley try on the pants w/ the pads that you normally wear. some fit better than others obviously.. & certain kneed pads are much bulkier than others. moto style knee pads fit in them all (duh), & pads/shin guards w/ sleek designs should fit in pretty much all as well (661 race, tld, etc). but when it comes to the blukier, "freeride-ish" style pads (roach, 661 4x4)... i'd definitely try before you buy.

i just switched to the 661 Kyle Strait's recently & used the in the new Nema Revolver pands w/o a problem (should be out w/in a few weeks). the knee area is made to have a little extra room for that particular reason - to have ample room for movement in the knee area w/ knee pads.
