damn holy shizzle. that thing is amazing. I dig the name too. I will own one. I'm really impressed at how it might look similar from 50 yards but just how totally different the bike is from the RL.

My fiancee and i have decided to move to the Colorado Springs, Co area in the fall of this year, 2009. That's close enough to make a weekend trip to pickup my new whip in person over the winter of 2010.

I'll be glad to leave living downtown dallas and get to the mountains while i have alittle youth in my side. cant wait to have the Silencer in my stable as well as a 20 pound xc hardtail. two bikes on the opposite ends of the spectum is the only way to roll.

you bet i'll be calling to go ride. ive spent quite a bit of time in Colorado over the years including several years as a kid living in Woodland Park. I'll be living in a relatives second home in Monument, CO while we build a house of our own. stoked!
 
That is seriously one of the sickest bikes I have ever seen. Curious to see what the price will be? Just got a new DH bike the other day though so it will be a couple years before I'm ready for a new one - maybe if I start saving now. Litermag has been on it lately!!

CCDB next to a rusty chain, really just doesn't sit well. You'd think they could find a KMC X9 (or 710) SL Ti-N or something blingy to throw on for the photo shoot.

The LHD needs a single speed chain. I guess they could have gotten a blingy-er chain, but I'm pretty sure that bike is the proto that Doc is actually riding. So I'm guessing he's going for reliability. The KMC Z1 chain is rock solid reliable. As the owner of a Race Link, I can tell you, you need a stout chain on the LHD side.

That bike doesn't need a fancy chain to make it drop dead sexy. It just is.

Jackshaft also acts as the pivot, so that area doesn't need to be doubly reinforced. Have you ever pedaled a racelink? You crank, it goes. No creaks, no twisting, no falling apart. Yeah, you could run an idler, but this system is actually so much cleaner on the drive side.

Dont forget the high Pivot that eats anything. The only Brooklyn Ive ridden was a TMX and that thing was redonkuless, I cant imagine this thing!

sick M4 :) all kitted out with some fun parts. Very fun gun to play with although it doesn't have the knockdown power of a 7.62 used by an AK. but anyways.....

Thats a sick M4 !!! I like the 223 round but the 7.62x39 on my Romaian AK just tears sheet up way better!! cinder blocks become dust, but long range the M4 is way better!!

But as far as unnecessary weight..........It's a steel frame and the complete build is around 38lbs. Good God!!!! How much lighter would you like it to be?

As far as worrying about the derailleur. I had a Nicolai Nucleon with the internal gearbox. You wanna talk about extra, unnecessary weight? Frame, Rohloff and shock was 22lbs. Bike built up to around 52lbs with a super light build. Yeah, bikes like the Lahar are pretty light. But really, the main people who think gearbox bikes are great, have never ridden one. Let alone raced one. Way to many gears for DH and excessive drive train slop between the Rohloff and the freehub, it's like the equivalent of a 8 point engagement hub, if not worse. It's a great idea, but until someone refines it, it just isn't worth it at this point in time.

You can buy one helluva lot of derailleurs for the price of the gearbox itself.

This wasn't from a photo shoot, these were photos taken at a race or test ride.

Bingo. Now that you mention it, I don't think I've ever seen a RL with a bashguard.

Actually, I can tell you exactly the performance difference. Since I converted my Race link to an idler, while I was experimenting with a light weight build.

It was actually pretty easy. I simply moved the LHD 17T cog to the drive side and used it as the idler. Not only did it not save weight, it actually added weight, since I now had to run a larger chainring and a chainguilde. And although I only needed one chain it had to be MUCH longer to go over the idler. It ended up saving about 12 links of chain.

As far as performance. It pedaled decent, but had more noticeable pedal bob, especially when standing. Pedal feedback was also perceptible, where as with the jackshaft, it was none existent.

I went back to the jack shaft drive after one ride.
